Even Keel is a bright and welcoming apartment located in Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. This recently built apartment is a well-designed space featuring modern interiors and amenities. Sleeping up to four guests across two bedrooms and with two bathrooms, the apartment is perfect for a small adult groups looking to enjoy this beautiful part of North Yorkshire.
The Space
Even Keel is a first-floor apartment situated on the west side of Whitby, just 50m from the sandy beach and sea, and a short walk to the many amenities in the town. The apartment consists of an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a private balcony. The living area has comfortable sofas for four and a secondary seating area meaning you can watch the world go by in a large swivel chair. On a sunny day you can open the bi-fold doors and let the outside in! The large flat-screen TV with both satellite and terrestrial free-to-air channels means you can enjoy an evening on the sofa with your favourite shows, whilst one of the bedrooms also has its own TV if you need a little privacy for your favourite programme.
The fully equipped kitchen is home to everything you could need to prepare and enjoy home cooked meals - an oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge, freezer and a large selection of cookware and dinnerware, in addition to cutlery and glassware. The dining area sits alongside the kitchen and is the perfect spot for enjoying meals with your whole party.
The first bedroom features a king-size bed (180 width x 190 length) which can be split into two singles upon request, the ideal configuration if you are travelling with teenagers or friends. The second bedroom is set up with two singles (90 x 190), however these can be merged upon request to form a king. Each room has ample storage space for your personal belongings whether you are staying for a few nights or longer and the dressing table doubles up as a desk space for those who need to log on during their stay. With quality mattresses and bedding as standard, you are guaranteed a restful night's sleep.
The slightly larger bedroom features an ensuite bathroom with a large walk-in shower, WC and basin.
The second bathroom can be accessed from the main hallway and features a bath with overhead shower, WC and basin. The apartment benefits from a private balcony with outdoor furniture - the perfect spot to relax with a morning coffee or an afternoon aperitif.
You also have access to a private parking space for one vehicle during your stay, so you can unload with ease. Once inside the building, a spacious lift will take you and your belongings from the entrance hall right to the door of the apartment.
Neighborhood
Set on the west side of Whitby, Even Keel is just a short walk into the centre of town. Head to Pier Road and you’ll find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants. Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll see the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk.
Over the bridge, you’ll find yourself on the east bank which is full of narrow mediaeval cobbled streets dotted with boutiques, pubs, shops where you can buy the famous Whitby Jet jewellery and even more restaurants. Walk past the Fortune's smokehouse and kipper shop and climb the renowned 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary and you can also discover the ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’. Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park which is the perfect area for long walks.
Getting Around
The centre of Whitby is a short walk from Even Keel.
Whitby train station is less than half a mile away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
There are plenty of bus routes around and outside of Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
Guests have access to the full apartment. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
There is private parking for up to one car at the rear of the property.
Please note that pets are not permitted to stay in Even Keel. This is to protect future guests who may be allergic to animal hair as they may suffer, even months later.

This was a late booking. The apartment was cosy and clean with good facilities and excellently located just off the front. Easy to walk into town or along the beach to Sandsend. We love Whitby and will come again. There would be no reason to look elsewhere for anywhere to stay. Would highly recommend.

Lovely apartment, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The short walk to the beach is blissful and provides a stunning view of the Yorkshire coast. Unfortunately the noise from the residents above became too much at times, especially early in the morning, this was in addition to another neighbour being hostile towards us regarding parking and unpacking upon arrival.

A beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean apartment. Situated within easy walking distance of all the attractions, pubs, restaurants and shops of central Whitby but down a quiet street so you can avoid the crowds and noise. The parking space is a huge advantage. If you don’t want the expense of eating out and enjoy cooking, it has an extremely well equipped kitchen. The furnishings are to a high standard and after a long day walking, the reclining sofas were definitely welcomed. The hosts communicated quickly and instructions were clear and plentiful with a great guide on the apartment and the local area. We will definitely be returning.

The apartment is on the first floor and has a lift. Parking space is good, off the street. Flat is easy to enter. The apartment has everything you need, it’s modern and very comfortable.

Stunning apartment with high quality finish throughout. Immaculately clean, spacious and very well equipped. Large comfy beds gave really good nights sleep. Covered balcony was an ideal space to sit for morning cuppa and evening drinks looking across to the Abbey and listening to the sounds of the sea. Free private parking was a real bonus. Would highly recommend Even Keel

Absolutely stunning apartment. Spotlessly clean and high spec finish throughout, truly immaculate. Really impressed, would highly recommend. Great location, nice and peaceful with the beach literally on the door step, with the main hustle and bustle just 10mins walk away.

Second stay here this year. In my opinion it's the best rental in Whitby and we've stayed in loads. The parking space is such a coup - really private and roomy. The apartment is spotless and so comfy, massive beds, two bathrooms, great showers, really comfy sofas - plus everything you need and genuinely clean. And the location is perfect, so close to the cliffs for a view out to sea, easy to walk into the town but far enough out to be peaceful at night. I would 100% recommend and hope to be back here again soon!

Perfect location, quiet residential area, close to the beach but only 10/15 mins walk to the town centre. Modern apartment with high quality fixtures/fittings & furniture. Very comfortable Only minor annoyance but locked cabinet in the second bedroom contained something (boiler perhaps) which was very noisy early morning

High quality accommodation only a stone's throw from the cliff edge and a short walk into Whitby itself. The main living/dining/kitchen was spacious and well appointed and the bedrooms were excellent. Particularly appreciated the en-suite shower/WC. Car parking space was welcome although would be helpful if it's letter was issued in the instructions to properly identify it.

fabulous apartment x spotless! in good location. It was a bit tricky getting in as the address is different to the flat number which was a bit confusing . and the parking is at the rear but there is 3 car parks and number 3 is under a little alley way so it did take a while to get in and sorted. but despite that the flat was amazing and i would definitely return. ot has all the amenities required and much more :-) beds are very comfy so is the lounge sofas and all mod cons in flat. highly recommended

Good location approx 15 mins walk into the centre of Whitby. The apartment was modern, clean and well equiped. The car park was numbered on the plan but lettered in the car park which needs addressing otherwise straightforward. Also being picky, there were winter duvets on all the beds which affecting sleep quality. In the summer months in an already warm modern apartment (even with windows open) summer duvets would have helped hugely. Otherwise i cant fault the apartment.

The property was very good, just a blip on the cleanliness in the living room. Location is excellent for both the sea front and bars/restaurants. Free parking at back of property is a bonus in Whitby There are extra 'small' hidden costs in the price with regards to insurance. Plus there is a £250.00 damage deposit for which i still await return 5 days after we vacated the property. The Host and stay process is quite onerous with numerous communications, information spread throughout and money taken in different transactions. for this reason i would seriously consider other options before using them again.

Gorgeous place to stay - very modern and spacious - pictures don’t do it justice. Spotlessly clean and tidy . Great location - all amenities and town easily walkable. Just far enough out the centre of Whitby to be nice and peaceful away from the crowds. Car space really handy . Will definitely stay again.

Lovely property, well located for both beach and town; with parking for one car included. Immaculately clean, light, spacious and well equipped, providing a very comfortable stay! Disappointed that there was an initial mix up over the letting agent unexpectedly requesting extra security £, following our confirmed Booking. com purchase, when there had been no prior mention of this requirement on the Booking. com property listing. Customer Services were eventually assistive but, with hindsight, we would have found it simpler (and cheaper) to have booked this property direct from the letting agent rather than having Booking. com caught in the middle with inadequate information on the property 'terms and conditions' and the agent seeking to impose post contract changes . (Booking. com advise listings will be updated for future bookings, to prevent similar confusions)

What an incredible place, great property and nice location. The apartment was perfect for what we needed and enjoyed our stay. The communication and information provided was great. Definitely be on the list next time we travel to Whitby and would recommend to anyone!

the property was clean, comfortable and the location was great. an easy walk to bars and restaurants in the town and neighbourhood whilst being in a quiet location a short distance from the centre of Whitby. There was nothing about the property we didn’t like, it was perfect for 2 couples, it had everything we needed. The only down side was the Host and Stay company, the booking process was tortuous and intimidating to say the least! Over 20 emails, even after they assured me they had turned off the generation of auto emails. This is something the company needs to look at. The staff I had occasion to speak with because of the confusion the volume of contradictory emails caused were very helpful and polite. I would be somewhat reluctant to book through this host company again.
