You’ll have full access to the property which includes a living room, kitchen diner, sunroom, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate WC.

Upon entering the cottage, you’ll be welcomed into the living room. This cosy space features two sofas and a flat screen TV. The perfect spot to unwind after a busy day, you can lay on the sofa and get lost in a good book or turn on the TV to keep up with your favourite shows.

Modern and stylish, the kitchen features white cabinets and black terrazzo style worktops. Amenities include an oven, hob, fridge freezer, toaster, microwave and kettle. Also sharing this space is the dining area which features a wooden dining table and four matching chairs. There is also a washing machine for your convenience in the sunroom.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. Neighborhood
Lavender Cottage is located in the quaint village of Grosmont. Less than 7 miles from the bustling seaside town of Whitby, Grosmont is perfect for those who want to enjoy a retreat in the countryside. Nestled within the North York Moors National Park, you can expect beautiful scenery during your stay.

There are plenty of stunning walks from the cottage, including the 3.5-mile Rail Trail which runs from Grosmont to Goathland. Just 60 metres from the cottage is Grosmont Station which is part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This 1952 themed station is the end of the heritage railway where the main rail network begins.

Lavender Cottage is just 50 metres from the local village pub and there is also a convenience store just down the road. Grosmont is home to a bookshop, a model railway and bus shop, and a number of cafes and tea rooms.

Getting Around
The North York Moors and surrounding area has a good network of rail and bus services, serving many of the main towns and villages, plus some fantastic walking and cycling routes if you'd rather get around under your own two feet (or wheels).

If you choose to travel around the area by car, there are many roads which are narrow and shared by other users. Very few of the roads have separate paths so you may well meet a walker, cyclist or horse-rider, so please drive carefully and take care.

We were very comfy here lovely little cottage with great surrounding countryside ?

Nothing about the cottage it self although we did find the next door neighbour very rude?

Enjoyed Whitby

The toilet was blocked, when flushed the water, came up to the rim. After unblocking the toilet, the bowl was stained with toilet. It was disgusting.

Good location, comfortable cottage but no welcoming little extras

host & stay were not good - took balance before arranged date causing me to go overdrawn, charged £60 cleaning fee after deposit paid, also charged £30 damage waiver (or £350 damage deposit) Kept contacting too much with many rules and felt overbearing. Felt pestered & under duress to keep in line with their expectations - I am a careful & respectful holiday guest but felt doubted & stressed by them. No welcome pack, no hairdryer, dvds but no dvd player, no games.

Lovely cottage in a great central location for exploring NY Moors. Very clean & comfortable. Car parking around the back for a small to medium sized car.
Pub, co-op & NYMR station just down the road.

Nothing to moan about here! All good for us.

Keys for the property where exactly where they said they would be

No hot water on arrival had to wait for immersion heater no washing up liquid in property, late notice of having to take accident damage which was either £30 non refundable or £300 refundable with a £10 handling charge these should be mentioned when booking property

Beautiful cottage. Host and Stay responded immediately to a couple of queries. I would have liked the use of a tumble dryer as the weather was not good and we struggled to get clothes dried during our 5 week stay. Would recommend Lavender Cottage and would stay again.

Lovely cottage in an ideal location for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Station Tavern, Coop and Grosmont Crossing Club. Clean and comfy and with everything needed to cater for a few days.

There is a compulsory insurance payment over and above the Booking.com fee which I think is disingenuous. The host communication was also not very clear. The parking space is small - it was OK for us but you would struggle with a big car such as an MPV.

Pleasant cottage in a lovely location.
Tidy and reasonably furnished and decorated.
Short walk from village shop and train station (also a local pub which we didn't visit as it is closed Mon & Tues) Train to Whitby is nice trip. No steam trains in November.

The Cottage was freezing when we arrived. No timers on electric heaters, guess no-one had stayed in a while. Dirty towel hung on the curtain pole.
I have never stayed in a property with such barren cupboards! A few sachets of uht milk a few Tea bags. Clearly gone are the days of welcome trays ! I work in hospitality and have managed many properties, for the price paid out of season this one was a little lacking in comforts. I am not sure if this is on the part of the owners or the letting company.
On a final note the messages chasing a unexpected insurance fee AFTER booking were not appreciated.

We booked LavenderCootage because we were going to spend time on NYMR.
It was very convenient for the station and the pub.
A nice , clean, comfortable cottage.
Only two minor niggles, the TV could do with being WiFi enabled, allowing gueststo bring their own firesticks and the car parking space at the rear of the property was rather tight for our Volvo XC60.
Overall a very pleasant stay.
Overall

Great location for visiting Whitby and North Yorks with good transport links.
A super cottage which was very clean and matched the description given. The kitchen was well equipped with instructions for appliances at hand. I would highly recommend staying at Lavender cottage.

Had everything you need to cook a meal. Very clean and had a very comfortable sleep. It was a bit cold when we first arrived but had plenty of heaters around the cottage and warmed up very quickly.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Beautiful little cottage. Great location. We came for the Whitby goth weekend but the cottage is in a perfect location for the coast to coast walk and the steam railway.
Very secure property, great little out room space. Kitchen facilities were good. Very clean throughout. Bedding was comfortable. Great that there was a parking space round the back of the cottage to avoid street parking. The station inn local pub just maybe 50 metres down the road, lovely little village pub, serves a good pint. Communication from start to finish was excellent, polite and efficient.

Not really negatives, but maybe a larger couch in the livingroom or an extra armchair. Kettle liked to leak but again not a huge disaster.

Lovely terraced cottage great for walking and exploring the area. I would recommend. Only small point is that we were looking for a cottage with an open fire - in an enquiry the fire was described as an open fire which it is not - it is an electric fire. Worth knowing that the only pub in the village was closed all three night when we were there so may be worth ringing and checking if you are relying on that as somewhere to eat - the nearest walkable pub is about 30 mins walk away in Egton. There is a cooperative type drinks only bar just across the road and there is a village shop.

1st Hist & Stay - if you’re not techy the lack of written guidelines is frustrating. My husband who is one such person was frustrated with this as he had to rely on me!
2 I was really concerned when on one site we read it had gas central heating, only to find it was electric convector wall mounted heaters - because it was cold we had the heaters on most of the time, which made us feel very guilty because of the cost of heating
3 asking people to leave clean and tidy when there was a lack of vacuum cleaner, broom brush etc
However the above didn’t detract from our stay which we thoroughly enjoyed in spite of the inclement weather !!

Nice cottage in a sweet village. Good location.

Hot water did not have enough for two people to wash and there was a significant delay for it to be turned back on. The “host and stay” system is very complicated and costs additional money for “damage deposit” does not seem worth it.

An extremely cosy little cottage in a lovely area. Everything you need is right at hand. Would definitely visit again. Loved that we could take our 2 little dogs along.

N/A as far as the cottage went. Booking was easy. The only slight difficulty was with emailing. Things got a bit confusing around the 'superhog' link/completion.
