This has been our third stay at Mumbles cottage, and it just keeps getting better. Having booked other cottages, for weekend getaways, In Whitby, the surrounding area and around the country, you can only compare them to this one. With it's relaxing, light, bright, calming interior, it is positioned in a fairly unique private setting for Whitby, offering both car parking for two vehicles and a calming and semi-secluded front garden. Perfect for catching a few rays, whilst enjoying a few quiet, relaxing social drinks or sundowners, after a busy day, in it's south facing aspect. With a generous, well equipped kitchen/dining room, great for cooking, social meals or playing one of the many family games provided. It really is a great sociable area. The living room is spacious, bright and airy, with ample, comfortable and tasteful furniture, quirky features and a well stocked bookshelf, and, if you need it, a Freeview TV. A well presented downstairs toilet is also available and the small hallway gives an option to hang a number of coats or bags. The entire property is adorned with nautical themed decorations, rowing oars used as stair rails and intergrated features within the rooms. The first floor offers two, very well presented bedrooms for sleeping up to 4, consisting of a large double bedroom with four-poster bed and large wardrobe and an ample twin room with further, well thought out features. The floor also offers a separate toilet and large, stylish shower room. The second floor is accessed from another flight of stairs, leading to an amazing, bright and calming feature bedroom, with panoramic views from the large velux windows, offering great views of the Whitby rooftops and surrounding hillsides. It really is in a class of its own! The cost, in comparison to other accommodation, in Whitby and further afield, that can sleep up to six people, is fantastic, especially considering the quality, cleanliness and high standards of the decor. Walking in to the well fitted and homely kitchen, only to find treats such as Yorkshire Brack, from the local Bothams, bakery, awaiting you, is such a nice touch. The hosts quite clearly spend a great deal of time and effort maintaining the amazingly high standards of the cottage. The properties fantastic position, offers privacy and a calming quiet, with only a short walk into the heart of the town, having bakeries, shops, pubs, bistro's, cafes and other eateries, just a very short walk away, in one direction, the sea front in the other. There are some great independent shops and art galleries, well worth a stroll for. A five minute walk, leads to the train and bus station, giving the inexpensive opportunity to venture further along the coast or inland. Great position for walking the coast too! I'm not someone that would normally take the time to write reviews, however, this continued perfection, is well worth the time and minimal effort. I truly look forward to our next stay at Mumbles cottage......it really is worth it!!!
