The Space
Oldcorn Cottage is a stylish and quirky maisonette apartment that is full to the brim with style and plenty of character. Located on Spring Hill, this charming holiday home is set across two floors with plenty of space on each of them.

Upon entering on the lower floor, you’ll be welcomed into a bright and clean space. You’ll find the living room, as well as the kitchen and dining area on this floor, along with the family bathroom. The living space is a cosy room, the perfect place to relax after a busy day exploring all that Whitby has to offer. With a spacious sofa, as well as an armchair, there is ample room to settle down in front of the TV with your friends or family for a cosy night-in after your action-packed days out.

The kitchen maintains charm, yet has a modern edge to it. Fully equipped with all the modern appliances you could need, you’ll be able to make the most of your self-catering stay in an environment that balances an old, rustic cottage feel with a sleek and modernised set of equipment. You’ll also find a corner dining table in this area with seating for all guests staying at Oldcorn Cottage, and space to sit everyone down and enjoy a comforting meal together.

In the family bathroom we find buckets of wow factor! A shower with yards of space to stretch and wash in; and stylish wash basin and WC, it is a fresh and crisp space within this charming property.

Head up the stairs and you’ll find both bedrooms that Oldcorn Cottage can boast about. Both bedrooms are peaceful and elegant with the same stunning aesthetic as the rest of the house. Beautiful exposed beams and luxury furnishings make both bedrooms into stylish havens where a good night’s sleep is guaranteed.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Neighborhood
Set on the West side of Whitby, Oldcorn Cottage is just a short 5-minute walk into the centre of town. Head to Pier Road and you’ll find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants. Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll notice the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk.

Over the bridge, you’ll find yourself on the East bank which is full of narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and even more fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Getting Around
Whitby train station is just a short 5-minute walk away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

This is a lovely property. The décor is modern but cosy, the rooms are a good size, the bathroom the new-looking with a really great shower and exceptionally clean. The location is ideal, a very easy walk to everything you'd want to see in a short Whitby stay.

The only issue was parking, which I guess is the same across most properties of this type. We parked in the Silver Street car park, which is 6-7mins walk and was very good value.

My first problem is that Host and stay have a policy to add accident insurance to the price after booking. It was mandatory and they would not give the access code for the apartment until it was paid. Secondly my instructions was the cottage number was 5 , very confused when found number 5 was occupied by a family, after talking to a few other people found the cottage is actually number 3 around the corner. Thirdly the parking to this property does not exist. the instructions on entering tells you to park down a lane opposite on a first come first served basis. It was full. After unloading moved to Marina car park £9 for 24 hours. Second day got a space across the road so moved my car so it was easy to load up for departure on the Monday morning. This lane is a private road and on Monday on check out the lane was completely blocked with cars from solicitors and hair dressers. It took nearly an hour to get all the people out to move the cars so I could eventually leave. Diabolical

Nice and clean, very comfy beds. Great location and easy check in! Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Would recommend!

The parking was an issue. On check out we found we were blocked in and a man from an estate agent was waving his angry finger at us telling us we weren’t able to park there even though the sign in the flat said to park there.

The property is lovely (the pictures don’t do it justice!), feels homely, quirky, such thoughtful touches which the host left. Comfortable beds, Sky TV and Netflix, loads of films and games to play. Location is great, few minutes walk from centre and across the road from Pannett Park.

Nothing - no complaints.

Great place to stay, location is great , just away from the hustle and bustle of Whitby , but within 5 minute walk to the town, try comfortable cottage.
Lacks parking but recommend the parking on the large car park on the harbour, 8 minutes walk to the cottage.

Location excellent. Beautiful decor throughout. The owner has an excellent eye and has used quality furnishings throughout. Lovely and warm, lacking nothing, books, games, magazines, and a full range of TV channels ( Netflix, prime, etc) for the evenings. Faultless vacation, we would highly recommend and intend to visit again in the future. Thank you.

Bathroom radiator red hot, and burnt you if you didn't think to swerve it as you walked past.We were not sure how to lower the temperature( inept on our part). But at least the place was cosy warm, on a positive note.

Brilliant set up for a family and the location is superb. Walking distance from all the main sights.

Generally great, but a few of the kitchen items could have been cleaner (cutlery / bowls)… that said everything else was immaculate. I’d like to have seen heavier weight duvets and pillows. And also pillow protectors etc…

We found the cottage very cosy, a home from home. The facilities were excellent.
The location was ideal to enjoy Withby, all the main attractions were within walking distance.

The beds were too soft, and the bath towels were too small.

Cosy, pristine cottage located in a quiet, yet accessible and convenient, area of Whitby. Very homely feel! Comfortable beds and sofas, lots of board games and TV options for rainy days.

Has its quirks, as the cottage itself is rather vertical and contained. Not an issue, however.

It is a 3-storey small, but stylish house which is located at a 10-minute walking distance away from the train and coach stations and the beautiful harbour. The owner was very kind to provide the key to us to meet our request.

It was not an easy task to move our suitcases to the bed rooms when arrival and subsequently move them downstairs to the front door when departure , but I could comfim that it was a very good exercise to us.

location was amazing, property was clean and definitely a home from home. lovely and cosy.

we arrived late at night and when we got up the next morning had no heating or hot water. this was due to a drop in pressure in the boiler. having spoken to the property owner it's a problem that was known about so would have been good if this had been checked before our arrival to avoid the house getting cold, especially as we had our 10 month old daughter with us.

14/02/2023

Location was great, really close to Town Centre facilities and the cottage had everything we wanted, except parking, but that wasn't an issue with the relaxation of the winter parking restrictions.
It was very warm and cozy

Everything that the hosts could have done was faultless, however there was loud rave music being played on the Friday night, by either a neighbour or another holiday cottage occupant. Unfortunately it was most evident in the bedroom, it did stop at midnight fortunately and wasn't repeated.

Kelly

03/01/2023

Perfect location, clean, beautifully decorated and cared for, with generous touches like the provision of milk, bread, butter and juice as well as tea and coffee. The Christmas decorations and chocolates were such a nice and thoughtful touch which made our stay that much better. Can't wait to go back!

The only thing is that parking can be a bit of a faff, but with the carpark at the co-op so close, it's hardly a big issue.

Comfortable and finished to a high standard. Excellent shower.
Good location

Host and Stay had the cheek to charge £5 to pay their £250 security deposit (the need for which wasn't make very clear when we booked through Booking.com)! And then hung onto it for 10 days after we'd left (even though they claimed they had another rental immediately after ours and so knew then there was zero damage). At best "sharp" business practice and will avoid them in future.
In reality (it's first come first served on very limited spaces) there is no parking - we ended up paying for the marina car park 10 minutes walk away: expect to pay £10/day. This in addition to exceeding our budget for the rent.
Bedrooms upstairs, bathroom downstairs.
Complicated TV set up with no instructions.

We stayed here 3 nights and had a great time. Location is excellent and it caters for all you needs. Beds lovely and comfortable and the cottage was so cosy and warm. Exceptional value for money, all mod cons in an excellent location. Already been looking to book again, if all Host & Stay properties are of the same standard I don’t think we’d need to search anywhere else.

Maybe bigger bath towels, but that’s just personal preference.

Brilliant place, couldn’t fault a thing. Easy to check-in, everything you could need within the cottage. The location is perfect everything is within walking distance and close to shops etc.

We loved how cosy the apartment was, great selection of books, dvds and games which would have come in handy if we had stayed for longer than 2 nights. To say we were so close to Whitby centre, it was quiet with little disturbance. Well equipped kitchen and everything was clean.

No guaranteed parking, although we did manage to get a space.

A great location, cute cottage and well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed our stay.

One thing to note, the parking is difficult and the locals aren’t very friendly about it! We found the recommendation of Victoria Square impractical (said private road, and loads of cars parked all over) ended up parking the other side of the park- free parking and a pleasant 10 minute walk through the park back to the cottage.

I arranged a weekend away for my family as a Christmas gift and the cottage truly didn’t disappoint! The rooms were clean, tidy, spacious and the beds were so comfy! The whole cottage is beautiful, homey and equips with everything you need which was just perfect for us! The location is amazing with Whitby just on the doorstep and the shop just a few steps away, which was so convenient. My gift to my family was to make memories and the cottage made sure that this was possible ?? I couldn’t have found a better place! 100% would (and have) recommend to family and friends. This location is perfect for any occasion! Thank you for having us and allowing us to wind down and enjoy a long weekend of laughs, cries, sleep and well needed R&R.

A lovely little cottage right in the centre of Whitby with Whitby Abbey views too. It was super clean and very well equipped. The kitchen is especially well equipped, clean and tidy which was perfect to cook a small meal in.
Check in was really easy and communication with the hosts were really efficient.
Parking in Whitby is naturally difficult but we parked in a nearby car park. £9 for 24 hours was not bad.

Great location and value. Our first visit to Whitby and we had the most wonderful stay at Oldcorn Cottage. This is such a cosy place with a really homely feel. It’s completely spotless with everything you need for a comfortable stay - the game consoles were also a winner! The best part is that it’s situated in the most perfect location - only a 2 minute walk until you reach all the shops / cafe’s / restaurants. Not much further and you’re on the beach. We will definitely be back to this place and would recommend to others!
