Clean modern cottage but considering they charge s hefty cleaning and service charge bill it did not smell like a professinal clean had been done before our arrival Positives clean comfy beds but could put sheets on as well as quilts modern kitchen and bathrooms overall a lovely little place though close to town it is a hilly climb back in all directions and steep stairs to loft room.

Host and stay stating in emails for months there was a parking permit and telling me 2 days before there was not then after complaining a gesture of goodwill to cover parking was offered. Upon arrival expecting basics of tea coffee sugar milk to find literally 4 tea bags 4 coffee pods and 4 little pods of milk like you get on a tea tray in a hotel. No washing up liquid no cleaning or drying cloths no hand wash except 1 half used in main bathroom and there version of toiletries supplied was 1 shampoo and i bodywash to share between both bathrooms just little sachets. 1 handtowel for 4 people at least there was 4 bathtowels. There was near empty rolls of toilet paper left on with only 1 spare for everyone. No hairdryer no waste bins in rooms just little ones in bathrooms loft room small for adults really more suited as a childs room one guest would have been locked in ensuite as lock to door loose needed opening from the outside. Host and stay need to just spend a little to acheive a lot if you charge premium price then please provide basics for arrival its not like there is tesco express at the end of the road. Or be honest and say you provide nothing. It is the worst welcome pack i have ever seen and please sort out the toiletry issues. Please improve communication instead of automated emails all the time. Despite my poor review we enjoyed our stay but would be reluctant to book with host and stay services again i apologise in advance if all the complaints are not yr responsibility but it needs addressing by whoevers it is.

Gorgeous stay at Penny Farthing. Place was bigger than expected, every room was beautifully decorated and look newly refurbished. It was very clean and there were some thoughtful details included - milk sachets! Cushions for the outside chairs. Cleaning bits and new toilet rolls. Bathrooms were perfect. Really close to the centre so was great to explore Whitby and surrounding beaches.

Banister to the top room was loose and wobbly. The cobble street to the apartment was tricky and parking was at the west cliff (£10.40 for 24 hours) Not miles away but when you have a lot of bags to carry. Wish we had been told about the damage deposit options before booking, we paid the £30 non-refundable. No freezer but there was a fridge.

House was excellent with all the rooms being decorated to a high standard, good choice.

Lack of parking

No parking permit, street extremely narrow front door, better to load/unload back door.

Beautiful property in an ideal location.

My only gripe would be the damage depoisit. I think £250 is excessive and quite cheeky to then only refund £240 if there's been no damage.

We opted to pay the £25 non refundable damage depoisit however again if no damage has taken place, I can't understand why this deposit isn't fully refunded.

Other than this,

We loved our stay.

Spot on, good size and liked the little back yard

I would be picking but if anything we would say the horizontal blinds were dusty and the en-suite sink was tiny but I really am picking and we did enjoy staying there

Exactly as described, immaculate cottage

Nothing it was great

Andy

The cottage is lovely, very clean, as advertised.
The ‘Host and Stay’ company they use was a really frustrating experience.
- Wrong keysafe code given.
- Excessive non-airbnb checks
- Extra damage waiver deposit payments required
- 6 lengthy messages during our 1-night stay
Excessive cleaning fee of £60. We pay half that at home for a larger house.
