If you’re looking for a relaxing break, you’ll get the best of both worlds when staying at Egton. This quaint village is perfect for walks and picnics. Head to Egton Bridge, Arncliffe Woods or the river where you can head over small stepping stones to the wooded island. Egton is located just six miles from the seaside town of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. Popular for its Blue Flag West Cliff beach and promenade, the whole family can enjoy a day on the golden sands. Head to Pier Road, you’ll find fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants where you can sample the catch of the day.

The other side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques and pubs. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Getting Around
Egton has great rail and bus links to Whitby. Northern Rail operates a train to Whitby five times per day which is a short 22 minute journey. Whitby train station is in the centre of Whitby so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail from here too.

Alternatively, you can hop on the Arriva North East bus service from Egton which travels three times a day.

By car the journey from Egton to Whitby takes approximately 12 minutes along the A171.

This is a really beautiful place set in safe parkland for the kids and actually located in the woods!! Very well equipped and its a proper built lodge not just 2 caravans bolted together so very spacious and well furnished. Lots to do and see in the North Yorkshire National Park or on the Yorkshire coast. Whitby and Robin Hoods bay are particularly nice places to visit. Very, very peaceful - could only just hear the boiler so that must have been fixed!

Fabulous lodge. Well equipped. Appreciated the fact that TV had both Netflix and Prime

Really lovely cabin near Whitby. The indoor space is beautiful and classy. You should know it’s on a caravan park.

The Lodge is set on a wonderful site. Easy to find. The Lodge is well equipped. Many a hot tub would have been even better as we saw there was space for one. A little pricey for 4 nights but not so bad split with other guests. Very open and lots of room.

Great location. Lodge was as described. Everything we needed. Perfect location for local areas, ie Whitby, Egton Village. Hosts were very communicative and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Such a lovely place to stay, would definitely return. The location is perfect, very peaceful and private, and just a short 10 minute drive from Whitby.

Beautiful cabin in woods

So pleased we booked this beautiful lodge, we had a lovely relaxing Christmas. The lodge was immaculate and very comfortable we thoroughly enjoyed it. The site was well maintained and access was extremely easy with the instructions provided.

The lodge is in a fantastic location close to Whitby. The immediate surroundings are lovely and peaceful in amongst the trees. The lodge is a really good size, nice and cosy and well equipped.<br/><br/>The heating is incredibly noisy as it is located above one of the bedrooms, there was constant knocking sounds from the ceiling on the first night as the heating had been left on all night, got no sleep at all. They sent a maintenance man out the following day, which was great, and he put it onto a timer so at least it wasn’t noisy all night. However it was still banging until about 11pm and started again at 6.30am, which woke us up. This has been a complaint from previous reviews and not addressed, which is disappointing, especially when you have chosen such a peaceful location to stay in, you expect to be able to sleep. The gas fire also didn’t work the first night, but the maintenance man fixed this for us the following day.

The lodge is in a fantastic location in amongst the trees, only 15 minutes away from Whitby, so a great base to set off from. Inside it is really spacious and cosy, with everything you could need. However, the heating is very noisy, with pipes banging and knocking all night, the boiler is above one of the bedrooms. In fairness to the management company they sent a maintenance guy out the following day who turned it onto a timer so at least the heating shut off between 11pm and 6.30am, when you get woken up by it again! Particularly when other people have mentioned this in reviews before and it has not been sorted. No compensation for not being able to sleep at all during the first night, not ideal when you have chosen a place that is meant to be peaceful, and have had a long drive and things planned the next day. I think as others have said in reviews it would be nice if check in was at 3pm instead of 4 especially when check out is 10am. In winter you are arriving in the dark, so the accommodation is quite hard to find, especially when they link to the map they sent me just takes you to the entrance of lady cross not the lodge itself.

The lodge certainly has that wow factor when you first arrive ! It's very comfortable, clean and in a beautiful location.<br/>We hope to return and enjoy another break at the lodge, highly recommended.

Really relaxing place to stay. Beautiful place

Pipes were very noisy. Think need attention/service

Beautiful Lodge<br/>Peaceful, relaxing private environment<br/>Great local walks with the dog

Facilities and comfort of the lodge, well equipped, quality fixtures and fitting (with the exception of the blinds) books, dvd’s etc for entertainment.<br/><br/>I contacted host and stay to ask if we could leave our car somewhere on/near the site before check in time, however the call handler wasn’t very helpful. However, when I contacted the receptionist team at the site they were brilliant. <br/>Also, lack of wildlife, particularly birds.

Until 8 years ago, my parents had a seasonal pitch at Ladycross. It was lovely to return this weekend to see what a great job has been done of the lodges. The whole site remains peaceful and unspoilt, the perfect place to relax and unwind.<br/>The lodge itself is one of the best I've stayed in. Spacious, with lots of natural light. Although the neighbours are nearby, the lodges are not overlooked and feel private. There was a good choice of essentials in the kitchen and bathroom - no need to pack washing up liquid and hand soap etc, as it was all provided.<br/>Typically, it was unseasonably warm for October, so we didn't use the log burner to full affect, but I couldn't think of anything nicer than to cosy up in front of it on a chilly evening.<br/>My only slight gripe is the check-in and check-out times. 4pm and 10am seem quite late/early. I appreciate the work involved in turning the lodges round, but 3pm and 11am would be a little more palatable. <br/>We will definitely book again

Very spacious. Super location. Peaceful.<br/><br/>Having to check out at 10. 11 would have been so much more civilised!

Beautiful accomadation, although little sun light due to trees, so decking green and slipy outside. Other houses are better located if you want to sit out in the sunshine<br/>Had no hot water at times, but still enjoyed the stay

Simon Howe Lodge is the perfect home from home, it’s exactly as pictured, in a beautiful surrounding with a lovely walk around the grounds and less than 10 minute drive to Whitby centre. It’s the most well equipped lodge we’ve ever stayed in, it has everything you could possibly need unlike other places we’ve stayed before! Would 100% recommend to anyone.

Place was amazing. Great location. Definitely try it out.<br/><br/>Couldn't work log effect fire

One of the single beds had damp bedding with a dirty stained towel on it. Probably an oversight?

Excellent location, immaculate accommodation and park. Wonderful walks around the park and very secure<br/><br/>A little late for check in at 4pm given check out is 10am but we knew this before we arrived

The apartment was amazing. Spacious, well kept and in an amazing location.<br/><br/>Nothing

Everything was spotless, well appointed, with everything we needed for our stay. The only complaint is that an amount of £250 deposit was removed from our account and we were charged £10 (non refundable) for the privilege. I have never come across this before and it felt penny pinching considering how much we paid for the accommodation.

We had a perfect stay. The location couldn’t be better as the lodge is surrounded by trees and very well-placed for trips to the coast. The area was really peaceful and full of wildlife, we saw a deer on our first morning and chickens, hares and toads around the site. The lodge had everything we needed and the enclosed communal field on the site was great for our dog to run around in.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay. The lodge is on a lovely site which is so peaceful. The lodge itself is super clean and very roomy. Would definitely recommend.

We come here each year! Love it

Beautiful lodge at Whitby, it was so peaceful surrounded by the woodland. Everything was comfortable and clean with so much space. It was great for the dog too, we didn't want to leave. Would definitely recommend

Lovely lodge. The "log burner" is a gas fire (very realistic though) it wouldn't light when we arrived but spoke with Host and Stay who contacted owner who sent somebody to sort it whilst we were out on day 2. Beds were very comfortable, we had a lovely stay. I don't agree with the extra "insurance" fee that Host and Stay ask for, we have stayed in dozens of air b n bs and have never been asked for this. I would recommend the lodge, there were 4 adults in our group and we were very comfortable.

The location was great

Stunning property, would love to come back again. Great location for access to surrounding areas. The only slight let down is the property wasn’t thoroughly cleaned throughout, minimal things like dust, hairs, dirty mirrors/hob etc which for what we’ve paid could have been avoided. <br/>Would still strongly recommend.

Fantastic accommodation

Nice quiet location very roomy accomadation ongoing building works to expand site but not noisy enclosed field for dog to explore downside not much on site one shop limited stock and not open very often no children play area

What a beautiful lodge well<br/>Equipped! Loved loved it. <br/>EXCEPT THE HUMAN AND DOG HAIR ON THE BED!! Also the heating woke us up every morning! Not sure what was wrong with it. It came from the loft. We were refunded £30 for this which I thought was so unfair. We would have loved to have gone back but we won’t as I don’t think they handled our complaint fairly. For personal reasons this break was so important for RR. I felt it was spoilt because of these issues we had.

A beautiful lodge set in woodland grounds. Everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay and to visit Whitby and surrounding areas.

it was clean, well equipped and well maintained, great location too.

The lodge was in a lovely woodland setting, it was quiet and a nice caravan park. The location was ideal as it was really close to get to Whitby and the coastal villages for a great day out. And then close enough to get to York!<br/><br/>Nothing that the hosts could do, but nature can sometimes be a bit noisy - some scratching from wildlife at night woke us and our dog up, but, this was nature so not within the hosts control!

Great space.

Location was beautiful, lodge was laid out nice. Awful smell in the main bathroom of sewage which we weren’t made aware of. Stiff bath tap which we were made aware of. Security of location was great and ideal for local walks or to Whitby. Quite a late check in considering it’s made such an early check out when you feel rushed to get out by 10am. Was sent a text at 9am with a fairly to the point text making sure we were out on time.<br/>Over all lovely place that’s pet friendly with a homely feel.

The lodge was very nice<br/><br/>The bath was out of action and the woman who came out due to getting through the car barrier was abrupt, as I hadn't been emailed the barrier code, probably not what you need after a 2.5 hr car journey, and 1st impressions, apart from that the lodge and whitby are really nice places to visit.

Lodge is great, location ideal and all the furnishings, information and equipment provided was excellent and we had a great stay.<br/>The management company added a sneaky £10 fee for damage deposit separate to all the booking fees so just be aware of this

Fantastic location and facilities, the lodge is beautiful inside and is extremely modern. Loved the fire and it’s a perfect base for exploring the Yorkshire coast!

A wonderful stay in a beautiful setting. The lodge is perfect, very clean, quiet and with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Easy to find too. Highly recommended.

Excellent accommodation, exactly as described. Perfect for exploring area but definitely need car.

The property was adequate but the code given for the gate didn't work. <br/>The oven was dirty and my wife had to clean before use. <br/>The toaster was so badly made up with previous crumbs it set off the smoke alarm. <br/>The fires pilot light was not working in the fire the guy onsite came out and managed after a bit of fiddling to get it lit. <br/>The site was clean but the secure dog field had a broken fence. <br/>The site had swapped hands and the welcome pack was a bottle of milk and three dishwasher tablets no eggs as other guests commented but this is run by host and stay now,as we found out not made clear when booking. <br/>They sent several messages to us on site mainly to tell us that we had to vacate the property by 10 am on our final day not very customer friendly and certainly not helpful. <br/>We also found out that at the edge of the forest a Mine shaft and workings were being sunk to serve the new potash mine South of Whitby. <br/>This was not highlighted when booking all in all a mediocre experience. <br/>You should seriously have words with host and stay they are poor customer orientated company and the property is no where near 5 star and the rate is smiles too high you pay I will now think twice before booking through you again!<br/><br/>See above comments a poor over priced venue which faces problems from the mine developments!

THE best place we have ever stayed in the UK. Outstanding.

What a brilliant home away from home. I did not want to leave! Brilliant location, you can drive to Whitby within 10 minutes! Scarborough is also an easy 40 minute drive. And the walks and nature are all on your doorstep (literally!!!). The whole stay was like being in heaven. Loved every minute. Will return!

we stayed here as a family of three and loved it, will definitely be back!

Lovely lodge. Set in a beautiful location, very private and peaceful. Really good facilities in the lodge, had everything we needed. Really good size. We would recommend and definitely stay again.

We had a fabulous stay at Simon Howe Lodge.<br/><br/>The lodge is spacious and in a wonderful setting in woodland. Facilities in the lodge are good everything you could need, a stylish home away from home.<br/><br/>You will see some small wildlife around the lodge , we saw a Hedgehog and Hare as well as the chickens that wander around.<br/><br/>The park is a great location for Whitby and other parts of the North Yorkshire coastline.<br/><br/>We would highly recommend a stay.

the cleanliness, the space and the facilities were great as well as the location being so close to the beach<br/><br/>the property was far too hot and took too long to get it sorted. the underfloor heating was on constantly for the first 2.5 days and we were stupidly hot

Great lodge. Would definitely stay again.

The lodge is in a natural environment surrounded by trees. Inside is modern and spacious. We particularly enjoyed the wooden deck and the high ceiling in the sitting area. It’s really relaxing to have your coffee and breakfast sitting at such a tranquil place in the sun. Highly recommended!

Super place to explore the Whitby coastline. Peaceful location, surrounded by nature.

Beautiful place to stay with our family. Immaculately clean, and fabulous amenities.<br/>Very peaceful and relaxing. <br/>Only wish we were staying longer! Highly recommend!

The automatic central heating came on far too early at about 5.35. Thus waking us up. Maybe to do with the recent change of clocks.

Beautiful lodge in a secluded forest setting. The lodge had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Highly recommended

Absolutely fantastic lodge at a great price

Really enjoyed our stay at Simon Howe and would highly recommend to all. A beautiful lodge within a lovely location. Communication was clear from hosts. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

A very comfortable lodge set in a beautiful location. The lodge provides everything you need for a comfortable stay with family and pets. Spacious open plan living area with good sized bedrooms. We were welcomed with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The communication was great throughout the trip and we had no problems in checking in and out. There are a numberif places to visit nearby. The hosts are friendly and very responsive. Highly recommended!

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of November to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. The location is beautiful. The lodge was exactly as described, and extremely comfortable. It was clean and welcoming. We made use of wonderful gas log burner which was perfect due to the cold temperatures outside. It was so cosy!! The check in process was very straightforward and we got a warm welcome. We would definitely like to return in the spring and would also recommend to family/friends.

This place was an absolute gem! The lodge is set within a very peaceful area surrounded by trees and would suit anyone looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The Lady Cross site is quite remote and I would say that having a car is essential if you're wanting to go off an explore. But with that remoteness comes tranquility! The lodge is very well stocked and feels really cosy despite being a really good size. The roaming chickens in the morning were also a lovely addition. Our stay here was wonderful and I'm sure we'll be back in the future.

Great lodge with a lovely cosy feel to it. Nice areas for families, couples etc. Our pup enjoyed it just as much as we did.

My wife and I stayed at the Simon Howe lodge for a long weekend and I must say this was one of the most comfortable and enjoyable places we have ever stayed.<br/><br/>The lodge had everything and I could not find any faults whatsoever. The property was very clean, excellent WIFI, Smart TV, very comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms and the kitchen was equipped with everything you need.<br/><br/>We used this property as a base to explore the local area. I would highly recommend staying here if you wanted to visit Whitby. It was perfect!

lovely spacious property in nice relaxing forest settings. host provided amenities like milk, condiments etc on arrival. the house was spotless and can’t fault anything about the property. will return in the future if ever visiting Whitby.

Awesome accomodation and great location, we will be back.

Had a lovely time with close friends to see in my 25th birthday. Amenities were spot on it felt really homely and the site felt very secure. There was a few insects keeping us company but considering the lodge is woodland based, we where in their habitat! would definitely recommend and I imagine would be beautiful in all seasons!! Would love to see this lodge in the snow!

Good location for Whitby lovely woodland setting and the Lodge was 5stars absolutely perfect

Lovely peaceful location and comfortable lodge, all good.

The lodge was exactly as described at pictured. Absolutely wonderful, very modern but also rustic and exactly what a lodge should be like! Great location and superb staff.

A lovely secluded spot amongst the trees and in easy driving distance to the coast

Lovely location and property.

Stayed 4 nights in this amazing lodge. Excellent location 15 mins max outside of Whitby. Lodge had all the amenities needed. We loved our stay!

Lovely lodge<br/>Very clean and comfortable <br/>A small welcome pack would be nice for all length of stays not just full week bookings

Highly recommend this lodge, very well looked after sight. Nothing to complain about

Great location and the accommodation is fab, just like the pictures.<br/>Will definitely go back

Simon Howe is in a beautiful location. The lady on reception was very helpful. The lodge is very well equipped throughout. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay.

A beautiful Lodge in a very peaceful spot. Beautiful woodland walks lots of nesting boxes...we loved watching the blue tits to and fro’ ing. <br/>The Lodge itself was well equipped spacious and comfortable for two couples. <br/>We walked to Egton...about two miles away and had a lovely afternoon in the sunshine at The Witching Post including a nice meal. <br/>We took a taxi to Whitby which is beautiful. <br/>A great spot to discover the North Yorkshire Coast
