Location. The apartment was comfortable and has great views. No washing machine which was frustrating for an 11 night stay. Cold in the bedroom….heating already preset or controlled remotely. Reported a problem with the bathroom lights on our first day. Was assured someone would contact us to arrange maintenance/fix but this did not happen. We could not use the main lights for the whole trip due to strobing and one light hanging from ceiling. The light above the bathroom mirror did not work either so we had to purchase replacement strip bulb ….this was the only light we had during the trip as the bathroom is internal and has no window.

Excellent location Instructions for heating were a little obscure. Problem with a couple of lights in the bathroom, one flickering and the one over the sink didn’t work.

Beautiful apartment in an excellent location. Very clean and tidy. There were a couple of negatives however. Given the price paid and the £50 cleaning fee (which I think is massively excessive) you would expect full access to the whole apartment, however, there appears to be a second bedroom behind a locked door which would have been very useful during our stay and should easily be covered by the cleaning fee. A compulsory £20 indemnity insurance also leaves a sour taste.

The property was well maintained and had plenty of cutlery, plates etc. It was very comfortable and homely and has amazing views from the windows.

Ok. Everything that others have put about location veiws, everything needed for a great few nights in Whitby including a secure ample car parking space. First class. I saw that others had mentioned the heating problems so I ask about it before travelling, only to be fobbed off. We got there at 4:30 as arranged. It was easy to get the living cosy but because of the short length of time the hall and bedroom electric heaters were set up to be on , these spaces were flipping cold. The towel rail in the bathroom was either off or scalding hot. The instructions regarding 2 large thermostats is out of date ( there are none). I've only put this moan regarding the heating as I was ignored when I brought it to the agents attention. It truly is a fabulous place. Thanks very much.

Location, facilities, clean, tidy, spacious, great views, on site parking It was very cold. Although the radiators were programmed the temperature in the apartment was too low.

The apartment is located in a quiet area within easy walking distance of Whitby’s shops, restaurants and attractions. It comes with safe, secure parking which is a bonus. The kitchen is well-equipped and the bed is comfortable. Another bonus is the fabulous views of Whitby harbour and Whitby Abbey. The apartment was cold and we were unable to adjust the heating as the radiator controls were locked. I complained about this and was told the matter would be ‘escalated’ and dealt with but nothing was done. The bedroom was particularly cold and the radiator never seemed to come on. We were very disappointed that this issue was not dealt with during our stay. The bathroom (also cold but had heated towel rail) needs updating. Also, we only had 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels which is not really enough for a week’s stay.

Location within walking distance of Whitby. View from apartment and secure parking. No mattress cover on bed. Attention to detail on cleanliness.

Views were amazing. Location good, very close to pubs and restaurants but not close enough to hear any noise.Apartment was lovely and the bed was so comfy. Went on the steam train, recommend this trip it was great. The fish n chips were amazing and we found a lovely wee micro bar. Definitely go again. Bar is in the photos below

Entirely satisfactory. Slightly annoyed that we were required to pay a £250 damage deposit less a £10 admin fee a week before our visit.

Lovely flat clean and comfortable with beautiful views. Ten to fifteen minutes walk to the center of town. Car parking in private car park under the property. Has everything you need inside the flat. I would stay again. The 20 pounds service charge on top!

Great stay fantastic views, short walk to Whitby town. Brilliant location views to die for! Well thought out lift was a god send. Only issue was heating very cold at night sat with hats on! not able to control it ! Had a lovely memorable stay??

We had a very enjoyable stay in this property which is cosy and well located. It isn’t quite perfect, slight negatives being, a feeble shower; heating which is only just adequate and may really struggle if there are strong north easterly winds; and a blind in the bedroom which lets in too much light. However, these didn’t spoil our stay as the views are wonderful and the apartment is well equipped and very clean. We would stay there again despite the irritation caused by Host & Stay insisting that we either paid £25 for accidental damage cover or leave a £250 deposit which incurs a £10 ‘admin charge’. AirBNB have a damage reimbursement procedure so this policy just feels like a way for the management company to squeeze a little more out of guests. Their staff were, however, very polite and attentive.

Very nice modern apartment in a good and convenient location for all amenities. The apartment is situated on the third floor with dual aspect views of the estuary and you also get a lovely view of the Abbey. There is an allocated private secure parking bay on the ground floor, which is included with the property and is a real advantage in Whitby… The apartment was clean and comfortable and had everything required for your stay. We also found the bed was super comfortable and ensured a good night’s sleep.. The only negative was the electric heating which struggled to keep the apartment at a comfortable temperature and was especially hostile on arrival and first thing in the morning. The radiators were locked at set temperatures and times so unable to adjust, however the electric fire/fan heater compensated! This wouldn’t be a problem in the summer months and definitely wouldn’t deter us from returning to the property. Overall we had a lovely stay at Starboard Bow and highly recommend!

Starboard Bow is a beautiful apartment in a quiet location, but in walking distance into the centre of Whitby. Views are just brilliant from the apartment. Immaculately clean with everything we needed and more. Also, parking is great ? Definitely booking again. All good, nothing to dislike.

More detailed explanation of retrieving keys from box and how to get into parking space under the property through locked gates. The lack of communication in regard to the £25 charge for insurance. We were unaware the charge was required and as a result had a stressful time trying to get the details for getting the keys to the property on the night of travelling to the accommodation. We had to be on the phone for considerable length of time waiting in line 3 times when we were on the way to the property. The cost for the insurance should be included or added to the booking when you are making payment not later down the line as it added unnecessary stress to an experience that should have been relaxed from the start on the Friday evening.

Location very good for Whitby Town Centre & attractions, with great views from the apartment .On site secure parking was a real bonus.

Excellent location, parking spot, little touches such as the telescope, very clean. It was a little chilly, heaters locked on temperature and not very effective. Would not book Host and Stay property again. Stressful start to the trip due to not receiving deposit links which meant no check in instructions either. Had to chase via messages and then phone them whilst on-route to request check in instructions. Deposit company is a third party requiring personal details and there is an unexpected nonrefundable charge for using it.

2nd time staying within 8 weeks, so must be good, fantastic stay again, location, facilities, parking. Everything we need for our stays

Nice place in good location. Good secure car parking. Great views of Abbey and port from lounge. Shame about the heating which was undersized for the size of apartment and no facility to “advance” timer, as it didn’t come on until 8.00am. Shower over bath could be better quality. Otherwise, thoroughly enjoyed our short pre Christmas break.

The view was lovely, parking was convenient and secure, the bed was very comfortable, the telescope was enjoyable to see views of the Abbey and the harbour Heating radiators were locked and the temperature was not warm enough. We contacted staff to explain that there are no thermostats on the wall in the hall and the bedroom (the online guide information is incorrect) they replied by just repeating the erroneous information in the guide. There were no hard copy instructions for heating controls or information about times heating would come on, temperatures or instructions for anything else, One LED light in bathroom was not working and another was flickering. The bathroom could have been cleaner and limescale build up around the shower was quite noticeable,

Spacious and amazing views Bathroom needed updating and big clean. Heating was locked on off so for the time of the year we went it was cold. No hand-wash in bathroom Funky smell in bedroom.

Booked for my parents to have a break after a stressful few months. They loved the location and being able to park their car and leave it there whilst exploring Whitby. They said the apartment was well equipped and lovely with fantastic views. Just some noisy seagulls, but can't really not expect them by the coast!

Location was excellent. Facilities were beyond belief in a positive way. Cleanliness was 100%, every detail thlught about. Nothing but it would have been beneficial if there were two keys so we could have come and gone places seperately without having to wait for the other to get back to the apartment.

Location was great with just a 10 min flat walk into the centre of Whitby. The property was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. Views from the windows were spectacular, always something to look at. Can’t underestimate how helpful it is to have an allocated parking space. Nothing not to like.

The location was perfect for us - so very peaceful and quiet, and a short walk into Whitby centre. We could not get some of our favourite channels on the TV later in the evening. There were no instructions anywhere!

The accommodation was very cosy, clean, and had fantastic views of Whitby Harbour. Whitby was only a 10 minute walk away. We particularly liked it had its own private secure parking under the flats complex with a lift available to reach your accommodation.

Lovely flat, ideal location - beautiful view up the estuary and easy walking distance to town centre and the abbey etc. Secure parking and easy to access the property which was clean, well furnished and well maintained. Kitchen utensils very basic if you want to cook but adequate. Overall a very good place to stay, would definitely book again.

We had a lovely weekend at Starboard Bow. It was great to have secure parking as the car wasn't needed until we left. The views from the apartment are amazing and we would definitely recommend and I'm sure we'll return

Very modern flat, clean. Parking excellent. Excellent view of whitby and the estuary. Telescope was a nice touch. Only 5 minute drive to the town or the Abbey. Lift available, which is good as apartment is on the 3rd floor. The area around the flat was quiet. Heating was locked and had to phone to get it changed. Wouldn't matter in summer but we went end of April and was still cold. 15 minute walk to the town. Don't like check in time of 4pm, should be 2pm.

We had a lovely stay here for my birthday, the property was clean, cozy, and comfy. We would definitely come back!

Host & Stay did not tell the owners that the hot bathroom sink tap was not working, or the extractor fan. Extractor quickly fixed by owners - tap to be replaced. Owners very helpful and apologetic.

it was clean & comfortable arrived but the wrong pin no. was emailed to me to retrieve the key which took me 20 minutes in the rain eventually I had to phone reception for the right pin . There was no water coming out of the hot water tap, the toilet when flushed made a hell of a noise, probably air in the pipes

Great location, lovely views. Nice flat and secure parking. The heating isn’t great - the guidebook is out of date in terms of instructions for controlling the heating, we had to message to get the heating turned up remotely by the owner, and even then it wasn’t really warm enough. There were also some cobwebs on the bedroom ceiling which had clearly been there for a while.

everything. it was ideal location. fabulous views. great pre arrival information. safe secure free parking. immediate resolution of a problem. we will definitely return. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like really. . It was very cold when we arrived and we were unable to adjust the heating as there was a lock on it. one phone call to host and stay it it was sorted in moments. they contacted the owner who dealt with it immediately and called us back to confirm. it took less than 5 mins. it may help for future guests to ensure the apartment is heated for their arrival.

The apartment was wonderfully clean and in a great location with just a short walk into town. The views over the harbour and abbey are stunning. With secure private parking this is a superb place to stay . There is nothing to dislike .

This flat has the most fantastic panoramic views but there the great review ends overwhelming smell of bleach in flat. Could not use shower as broken. Kitchen sink was leaking underneath in to cupboard. Very limited kitchen utensils. Seaside themed interior was tacky and over done also one day of no hot water in flat. overall needs abit of attention.

De locatie was perfect voor ons (vlakbij de pub The Middle Earth waar wij elke dag muzieksessies hadden in de Whitby Folk Week). Het was er heerlijk rustig, je hoorde niets van je buren. Het uitzicht was spectaculair. Het appartement was uitstekend ingericht en voorzien van allerlei luxe dingen (plintverwarming in de keuken, handdoekenrek met verwarming, vaatwasser etc.. Het bed was gelukkig niet te smal en prima. Het bad was ook prima. Eigenlijk niets. Wat we wel zouden verbeteren is, dat er geen gebruiksaanwijzing is voor de ingebouwde waiste dispenser in de keuken en dat er geen houten lepel of spatel is terwijl alle pannen anti-aanbak zijn.

The location and view were perfect. The property was exceptionally clean. Booking process was good, even if a little probing and corporate. Post-booking communication was also good. The property was thoughtfully furnished and decorated, making it feel quite homely. All in all an excellent stay. A dishcloth and tea towel would have been useful touches. The bed was a little spongey but comfortable. The shower head bracket is a bit unstable and needs attention.

Fantastic accommodation with amazing views of the Abbey and Harbour from both the Livingroom and Bedroom windows. Brilliant location only 10-15 minute walk to the centre of town. The accommodation has its own secured parking space underneath the flats which was a bonus. Would definitely recommend the accommodation and would hopefully visit again in the near future.

Good instructions to gain entry to underground carpark and apartment. Fantastic views! All mod cons provided. Peaceful. Easy walking distance into Whitby. Tastefully decorated. There was no map of central Whitby in the welcome folder. A really noisy toilet flush which needs fixing asap. A cutlery holder for draining would be handy. A better shower would be nice. The vertical rod came away at the top. A bad smell from the sink waste disposal unit.

The property is located next to the harbour with fantastic views of the harbour and Whitby Abbey from the windows. All check-in information is provided electronically once your booking is confirmed, with information on how you access the keys to the apartment (from a lock box). A real bonus is having a car park beneath the apartments, behind a locked gate. The centre of Whitby is a 5-10 minute walk from the apartment, so we didn't need to use our car at all. The apartment was very clean and welcoming. It had everything you could possibly have needed - from complimentary toiletries to coffee/tea bags, a hair dryer (which was very welcome as I'd forgotten mine!). There's a large upright fridge freezer, dishwasher, sink waste disposal, a coffee machine (with some pods provided) and all the usual kitchen utensils. The apartment is in a quiet area with no noise disturbance. The bed was really comfortable. I contacted the hosts prior to travelling and once again on arrival and found the hosts very helpful with my queries. I would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property for a fantastic stay in Whitby. Nothing!

the views and location we had a blocked sink on arrival, reported it straight away, to be informed that we needed to take the plug out, which wasn’t in in the first place, we reported this again and was told that the owners couldn’t attend to sort, it was very smelly so my husband had to try and unblock it,

location very good, though a half mile walk to the swing bridge along a boring busy road. View brilliant, of the river and abbey. It felt very impersonal, with only email contact with the agent A lot of fuss when booking with some insurance company demanding a photo of my passport and a selfie to compare, when we did not want contents insurance anyway. No milk for a cup of tea on arrival, just tins with coffee, tea and sugar in them. We were expecting milk so didn't bring any.

Be prepared to be bowled over. This is a stunning property with excellent, secure parking included. Situated on 3rd (Top) floor but no issues with the lift to/from. Then we entered and WOW! Fantastic property. Open plan kitchen and living room area. Ideal for two people. Excellent views over the tidal river & up to the Abbey & Church. Bedroom was also very comfortable - just allow time to remove all the pillows first!!!! Overall a 10/10 property and will definitely book again in the future!

What a super apartment. Clean, tidy, completely as described with fantastic views over the harbour and the Abbey. Great value and a fabulous location. We loved our 4 day stay there.
