Chimney Pots Cottage is located on the Limestone Way. This end of terrace, Victorian cottage faces the River Bradford, situated in the quaint village of Youlgrave. The location is perfect and has the most idyllic uninterrupted scenic views of the river and countryside.
Spot kingfishers, dippers, herons, kites, sparrowhawks, buzzards, blue tits, nuthatches and many other birds on the clapper bridge facing your cottage. Curlews, lapwings and swallows visit. Watch the cows and sheep in the opposite field. Relax and listen to the babbling river and immerse yourselves in nature's beauty.
The Space
The cottage has a spacious kitchen with everything you could need for self catering and entertaining. From a farmhouse table and chairs, a brand new range cooker with double oven, numerous burners a wok ring and grill, you will also find new white goods, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer.
The lounge has a very pleasant aspect with comfortable sofas and window seat where you can sit and look at the view, read a book and relax in front of the log burner for those cosy evenings. You will also find a book shelf and numerous games to entertain all ages along with a TV, with Roku, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and other channels.
There is Wi-Fi throughout with good signal.
The front garden is south facing, dry stone wall, planters and a bench seat, the perfect place to sit in the day or evening with a glass of wine or a cup of tea and watch the sun setting. The back garden is a small contained patio with dining furniture, planters and a dry stone wall enclosing.
Private parking for your car is at the side of the house near duck window. Lots of extra parking opposite the cottage.
2 double bedrooms on the first floor: a king size bed in the front bedroom room with Victorian feature fireplace. There are far reaching stunning views across the hills and countryside.
The second bedroom has a double and single bed. Plenty of storage in wardrobes and chests and hairdryer in each room. A modern bathroom, featuring a separate shower cubicle with Mira shower with folding door and a lovely roll top bath for those relaxing soaks after a hard days walking.
Towels, shampoos and toilet rolls are provided. Smart lighting inside the property and out, enabling you to make the most of warm summer evenings. There are numerous USB phone charging points around the cottage.
Neighborhood
Youlgrave is an idyllic village that has amenities to offer both locals and visitors alike. There are three good pubs in the village all of which serve food, alongside a well stocked village store/deli and a Post Office which sells logs and kindling and all essential foods including meat and dairy from local farms.
You will also find a garage, an award winning bakery (Peak Feast) and a cafe (Fountain View Café) and tea room selling cakes, pies and freshly baked sourdough bread and sourdough pizza. If you fancy an outside adventure you will find a large playing field with a playground, bowls club and cricket pitch.
There is the most interesting Grade 1, listed, 12th century Norman Church. For anyone interested in history you will find plenty to interest you as Youlgrave was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.
Chimney Pots Cottage has beautiful walks of all grades on its doorstep. Just step outside and you are on the Limestone Way, pass through the gate or over the ancient clapper bridge for a lovely walk along the river! Take a dip in the wild swimming area; popular at all times of the year.
The cottage has information on local walks, including a route for a short walk to buy fresh eggs at the farm, a circular walk to acquaint yourselves with the river and village.
Getting Around
Bakewell is a charming market town in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, located on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Although it's a relatively small town, it’s well-connected and offers a range of public transport options to help you get around and explore both Bakewell and the surrounding area. Bakewell is well-served by local bus routes, providing connections to nearby towns and villages. Buses are operated by Peak District Travel and other local providers. The nearest operational railway station is Matlock, around 6 miles away. It’s on the Derby to Matlock line, offering connections to Derby, Chesterfield, and Nottingham.
