Neighborhood
Haydon Bridge is an excellent base for exploring Northumberland with Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland National Park and the beautiful North Pennines on the doorstep.
Built by the Roman Army, Hadrian’s Wall is a famous landmark located across part of the country. Listed as a world Heritage Site back in 1987, the 73-mile-long wall has sat iconically since AD 122. Hadrian’s Wall is located a short 10 – 15 minutes’ drive from the property, making it an ideal base for those wanting to get a closer insight into its history, or even just walk some of the distance to admire the architecture and the stunning views alongside it.
Perfect for those who love the outdoors, this stunning village has everything you need for a peaceful break in this stunning region.

Getting Around
Haydon Bridge has its own passenger railway station with an improved service to Newcastle for interconnection with the East Coast Mainline and to Carlisle for interconnection with the West Coats Mainline service. This allows links to the South of England and to Glasgow/Edinburgh for Scotland.

Other public transport is by bus with a daytime hourly services to Hexham and Newcastle in the east and Brampton and Carlisle in the west.

This makes Haydon Bridge a convenient location for visitors to the Roman Wall, Northumberland National Park or North Pennines Area of Outstanding beauty.

A lovely property in a great location for Hadrian's Wall. Very homely feel with good kitchen facilities. Clean and quiet. Amazing view from the garden. Good space on driveway. Would have liked the option to pay the deposit as part of the original payment. You have to pay a follow up non-refundable £40 or refundable £350 after booking to access the property. Could also offer a slightly later checkout.

Loved the views, space inside and out was great for family group, rooms well proportioned. No glass recycling, might be good to facilitate this in keeping with the eco nature of the property.

Lovely house with panoramic views of the beautiful Northumberland countryside from the back of the property. Nice decking area and our grandson loved playing football in the back garden, but beware the overgrown area beyond if the ball goes over! We liked the furnishings and the downstairs toilet was a bonus for those with bad knees. Good space on driveway for 2 cars and there was a key to the garage but we didn't use it. Haydon Bridge is a nice village, the house is up a hill, the Co-op is down the hill but you can park on the road. Good location for Hexham, the Roman forts of Housesteads and Vindolanda, Hadrian's Wall and what was Sycamore Gap. We had a great week at this house and didn't want to leave. There are steps down to the front door and 3 steps from the dining room to the sitting room and kitchen. I don't remember this being mentioned in the details and it's relevant for anyone with mobility problems. The beds were lovely but the mattresses a little firm for our liking. We couldn't find instructions for the oven - it stopped working at one point, but we switched it off at the socket (low down at back) and on again and it was fine. You have to take all glass recycling to the bottle bank which we found hard to find - it's just out of the village, no signage, and through a gap in a metal fence, not easy to spot.

The location was good for our visit to the Balloon Festival in Corbridge .The train station is just at the bottom of the road. Great location for Hexham, Corbridge and Hadrians Wall. The views are amazing and the linen clean. The layout of the house was perfect for the size of our family for the weekend. First impressions were that the house hadn’t been used for a while and needed freshening up. We had to wipe everywhere down with disinfectant. Once that was done it was fine for us (We had a baby with us). Also a few plants in the tubs outside would be good.

We were refused the access code on arrival and never actually receive it. The Host & Stay Co provider insisted we pay insurance in order to receive the code. This was not in their terms & conditions. No access code provided Bin x 1 were not clean No coffee plunger

house was clean and well appointed, the garden furniture was a bonus and the views exceptional this lovely property was let down by the following: one of the beds has a large sag/dent in the mattress. the water temperature in the showers was much too hot, yes, we know how to use shower mixer taps but that didn’t help. we contacted the hosts who said they would get back to us but didn’t bother. host and stay were not easy to deal with, they contacted us 4 times to confirm our stay, 3 of the contacts were after we had already confirmed and phoned after each email. not very impressive.

Beautiful location, outstanding views, lovely village with Co-op, pharmacy, coffee shop, pubs. The village is Haydon Bridge and has its own railway station. The Railway Hotel and Bistro was particularly lovely for a meal, friendly staff and delicious food (fantastic for gluten free also). The house was spacious, light, bright and airy. Great living / dining area for us all to hang out. Could log in to Netflix on the TV. Well equipped kitchen in general. Misunderstanding by Host & Stay re terms of the booking - they eventually honoured the terms booked after I showed the terms provided to me from Booking.com. £250 deposit with 3rd party - they took money from my card 2 weeks in advance of stay and held on to it for almost 2 weeks after my visit. I fed this back to Host & Stay as I am not sure if this is standard or something just went wrong on this occasion. This privilege also cost me £10 admin fee, undisclosed at point of booking. There was also confusion around this process with the wrong links being sent to sort deposit, then the onus being on me initially to contact the 3rd party to sort this out. And multiple threats of cancellation if I didn’t pay the deposit, even after I’d done it. It all got sorted, but was quite stressful feeling like I was going to wreck our family holiday!!! Broken toaster - quite annoying having to hold the lever down to make a bit of toast, and I note mentioned in previous reviews and not fixed. The house itself is beautiful, but the booking process has room for improvement.

Excellent property for a large family or group of friends. Good sized rooms. Great location for exploring Northumberland, Hadrian's Wall etc. Large garden for the kids to let off steam with lovely views across the valley. Whilst the property itself suited our needs there were a number of issues that took the shine off our stay. We reported a number of faults which on a more detailed look at previous reviews seem to have been outstanding for some months. They included - toaster not working properly, no small kitchen knives, no proper chopping board, only 2 teaspoons, lack of basic kitchen supplies - hand towel, black bin bags, washing up cloth, washing up liquid. Host & Stay the managing agents were great at communicating but very poor at taking any action. They promised to drop in more teaspoons and kitchen supplies but nothing ever arrived. One of the sinks in the upstairs bathroom was blocked on our arrival. Upon investigation the plughole was full of hair and muck. Obviously it had not been cleaned properly prior to our arrival. For the money we paid for our stay, I would not have expected to have the issues that we did and would also question why they have been left outstanding for so long.

We loved the view, the space, the beds were very comfortable and the showers were lovely. Some of the kitchen equipment and fixtures and fittings need updating such as the clothes hanger in the utility room, coat stand was broken (had been connected back together and upon hanging our coats on it, it broke), the brush handle comes off, broken scissors, lack of chopping board, no small kitchen knives.

Fantastic property, we really enjoyed our stay. The house is immaculately maintained and well-equipped for visitors. We loved all aspects of the property, but I guess the only slight criticism is the higher than average cleaning costs, when compared to other properties, although this wouldn't be enough to put us off a return visit in the future.

The house and location are both beautiful. We had a lovely two week stay this August. We are a family of five with three teenagers. There’s lots of space for everyone! The view from the back of the house is amazing. We enjoyed having coffee out on the decking in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening after a long days hike while watching the sun set. We enjoyed a day of heavy rain where we spent the day reading looking out at the view, this I found very relaxing. We enjoyed watching farmers on a few occasions herding their sheep from field to field. We enjoyed going to the local pub The Railway Inn Hotel which is at the bottom of the hill. The owners are very friendly and they do amazing burgers on a Friday night which are buy one get one free, definitely not to be missed! The house is a good base to see lots of Northumberland especially parts of Hadrian’s wall which is only 15 minutes drive down the road. Overall this is a beautiful house set in a beautiful location. We would definitely come back!
