Set over two floors, the house showcases work by the property owner, Diana Scarborough, who is a national and international artist-engineer. With strong connections to the area, you’ll find original one-of-a kind prints and photographs on display throughout the property. Designed and decorated as an artspace and gallery, all artwork is for sale and changes seasonally.

LIVING AREA
On the ground floor, you’ll find an open plan living and dining area. Striking in appearance, the living area features a bold, blue feature wall and a contemporary driftwood sculpture by a local Redcar artist in the fireplace. The ideal place to relax after a day of exploring the local area, you can kick back on one of the sofas and switch on the Smart TV to keep up with your favourite shows. If you’d rather unwind in peace, there is a curated bookcase of art and travel themed books, as well as walking maps.

DINING AREA
The dining area features contemporary seating with a white table and matching chairs. A yellow statement wall brightens the space and the selected artwork has been chosen with the overall interior design to create a chilled zone. The french doors open out into an enclosed yard area.

There is also a cloakroom on the ground floor featuring a clean, cool look with white and turquoise tiles and mini succulents.

BEDROOM
Head upstairs and you’ll find three spacious bedrooms and the family bathroom.

The master bedroom has a light blue and gold colour theme to create a truly relaxing space. The comfy double bed boasts premium bed linens and plush bedding so you can enjoy your nights sleep at Artist House. BATHROOM
Also on the first floor is the family bathroom which has a bath and overhead shower, WC and basin. Featuring a unique artist-designed panel of a walking map showing the coast to the moors and a forest green statement wall, North Yorkshire is certainly rooted here. Neighborhood
Artist House is located in the small, family friendly town of Loftus which has independent shops and amenities including the award winning Willow Cake Shop, Wold Pottery for arts and crafts and a micro gin bar. Loftus is also an ideal base for cycling as you will find the Tour de Yorkshire and the Klondike pass by at the end of the road. If you want to partake in cycling yourself, there are plenty of uphill climbs to get your heart racing!

The gorgeous seaside town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea is just a short 15 minute drive away. Here you’ll find golden sandy shores and a bustling town centre. You can take the oldest functioning cliff lift in the UK down to the promenade where you’ll arrive at the 208-metre pier which stretches out into the sea. The beach is overlooked by colourful boutique beach huts, a fish restaurant, arcades and a surf shop making it the ideal spot for a day at the seaside.

Also close to Loftus is the charming fishing village of Staithes. The quaint coastal hamlet was recently named one of Britain’s most beautiful seaside villages. It has high cliffs, winding streets and mismatched cottages bursting with charm. Staithes is a magnet for art and artists alike. Throughout the village you’ll find amazing painted illusions known as the ‘Painted Illusions Trail’ created by the famous artist Paul Czainski. It is also the home to the impressionist art society, known as Staithes Group, and their work can always be seen dotted around. Visit Staithes Gallery and browse the wonderful exhibits inspired by the village.

Getting Around
Artist House is within walking distance of all that Loftus has to offer. It is within 15 minutes’ drive time of Saltburn and Staithes, and 30 minutes’ drive time Whitby so the coast can be easily explored.

The closest train station is located in Saltburn and has routes to Longbeck, Redcar, Middlesbrough and Darlington with connecting trains to Newcastle, York, Leeds, Manchester and London.

Beautiful house in quiet place, amazing for families would stay there again House is stunning and worth the money but Host and stay messages 3 times a day reminding you about damage charges is a bit to much!!!Recommend to take photos as soon as you arrive to avoid any problems.

Had everything needed. The service from Host and Stay was terrible, lack of communication. ( Land lady was wonderful, very helpful and supportive ) If could cut of the middle man ( Host and Stay ) we wouldn't of had any issues what so ever.

We would certainly recommend this to anyone as a base to explore the surrounding area. The property was lovely, well looked after, clean and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay

the place was easy to find and quiet, the neighbourhood was okay. parking was on street. the rooms were smaller than we expected. the sofa were dusty. On top of all these, there was a compulsory damage protection cover was charged! Overall the the stay was okay but I must say not very comfortable and ofcourse I would not recommend it.

This property advertises a garden, when it does not have one. A garden was my number 1 requirement and I would not have booked this property if it has been correctly advertised. I have attempted to resolve this with the host, but they have failed to respond with any satisfactory reason.

The area is quite run down and whilst the listing states that there is parking out side that is not always the case, and the suggested car park is quite a walk. The house is very nice , clean and with everything you need.

The Good: Nice there was a highchair & kitchen was kitted out with utensils The Bad: Cleaner was there at check-in after check-in at 4pm (after being asked what time we would be arriving), which seemed make them rush and do a poor job, they complained that "they weren't even supposed to be doing this house today" Needs a good lick of paint, scuff marks all over the walls, needs a deep clean rather than a tickle in between guests. No hand towel in the downstairs toilet or kitchen. Numerous TV channels were "available" but not working due to poor signal Uncomfortable sofa Blinds in bedrooms so thin that they may as well not have been there for the amount of light they let in! Difficulty parking - small row of terraced housing, "alternative" is a long walk, not ideal with luggage Overall: An ok place to rest your head, not much more

A lovely bright place to stay. Close to a great beach you can walk to (20mins) or drive to with free parking. There is not much immediately around the house but many nice places within a short drive.

A fairly spacious old back-to-back house right on the edge of Loftus facing open views, but don't expect much from the town which is sadly run down, although friendly. Tiny backyard with no real outdoor space to relax in. Narrow streets where parking close to the property wasn't always possible. All said, the house was comfortable, nicely kept and kitted out well. We used the Arriva buses to explore the area (£2 for a single anywhere on the route) A very efficient service. You can walk from the house to access the Cleveland Way and the wonderful coastline, or head for the moors looking stunning in August. A good base for getting out and about and a fantastic shower to come back to!

The location When we arrived at the property we opened the door to the smell of stale smoke when going to open the windows & doors to the back we noticed a significant amount of cigarette ends on the back yard however you couldn’t get fresh air into the house to get rid of the smoke due to the bins been bang at the side of the door what definitely needed a clean as the smell coming from them didn’t help the smell into the house. The yard outside was small and dirty including an empty toilet roll, a mouldy dog water bowl & random bucket just left there. Inside the house contained dust & cobwebs in numerous places, there was something spilt down the radiator what hadn’t been cleaned up. We got the Hoover out as soon as we got there what needed a service straight away filter & bag changed as it wasn’t picking anything up this was when we was hoovering the rug & noticed how dirty the gripper what held the rug in place was. The sofa was very uncomfortable definitely not a relaxing place to sit after a busy day at the beach. There was also an old dog chew behind the sofa what had been left there, I’ll add pictures to the review below. The local beach was lovely but we wouldn’t be returning to this property.

The house itself was lovely. Very spacious and clean and in a great spot to explore the local beaches. After booking, it is compulsory to pay either £25 for insurance or £10 admin fee plus a £250 returnable deposit, regardless of the length of stay. Unfortunately the management company's system had a technical issue and would not accept payment from my card and it took several days to sort out. I kept receiving email responses telling me how important it was to pay this extra but no help on how to resolve it. My trip was non-refundable and they would not release check-in instructions until it was paid. As we only booked last minute it was quite worrying, as with only days to go before we were due to arrive, we physically couldn't pay the extra fees and nobody was helping us resolve the issue that was ultimately a fault on their system. Eventually, I had to pay using another card.

A clean, well presented, well equipped house which was lovely. The garden I’d describe as a courtyard, small but at least a safe outdoor area for the dog to go out. We always had on street parking available, outside the house. The beds were comfy and clean. The TV was difficult to work initially, but we managed eventually. We were a little disappointed with the town of loftus. The house was on the outskirts so a drive/long ish walk into town. We hoped for a New Year’s Eve drink somewhere but weren’t too impressed with the pubs. It at least had a co-op and spar, and takeaways available to the house. it was only a short drive to saltburn and staithes which were lovely.

Great space / base ?? Have had a fab week exploring the North Yorkshire Coast & Moors. The Artist House provided excellent accomodation; clean, comfortable, contemporary, quiet & well equipped. Enjoyed the artwork & studying the local OS map whilst showering! Communication with Host & Stay was very good. Enjoyed walking with the dog on nearby Cattersty Sands at Skinningrove.

Great stay with the kids and dog. We used the venue as a base of operations so we could go fossil hunting. We spent our time at Runswick Bay and had a great time. If your planning on heading that way make sure you have cash for parking, or stop at the top of the hill to use the ring go app otherwise you'll have no signal

A well presented and equipped property which made for a very comfortable stay. Always was a parking space directly outside the property. Spoke to a lot of the locals while out walking the dog who were all very friendly. There's a community park around the corner which is ideal for walking a dog. Chip shop also around the corner although it had odd opening hours so work checking. Close to Saltburn, Staithes and Whitby so ideal for exploring the local area. Recommended.
