Good location. Nice property if it was clean and heaters worked Cobwebs hanging from ceiling down to head height so should not have been missed. Heater in living area not working, not good in winter. Emersion heater turned off on arrival so no hot water and couldn’t shower until next day

Having our own space was clean Only issue was not able to check in while 4pm that's most off the day gone

The apartment was lovely! Spacious and the shower was great. Fantastic location. I would recommend it! Getting the right code for the key box would have been useful. I waited over an hour for someone to get back to me. The oven hadn't been cleaned since I don't know when and smelt of dead pig. Only one toilet roll for 4 nights? The electric radiator in the cupboard is a fire hazard. It smokes... I mean seriously smokes.

Great location; by the beach and within walking distance from all the attractions, restaurants and bars. Few little improvements could make this apartment 5 stars.

This was not the property we booked to stay in but due to an agent's admin error we were booked in here. We were asked to pay 2 different accidental damage waiver fees and spent hours on the phone trying to sort this out, we eventually got a refund for one of them. Communication with Host and Stay and VRBO was poor, we kept getting passed from one person to another and were often put on hold or the line went dead. The double beds were against a wall which meant climbing over each other to get in and out of bed. The TV did not have normal channels such as ITV, BBC etc so I guess the property owner did not have a TV licence. The pans were dirty and unusable, the table was too small and did not have enough chairs for 4 people. The sofa was uncomfortable and the 2 basket type chairs were damaged and falling apart. The shower did not have a grab rail or non-slip mat. There were no cupboards, drawers or shelves to put anything in, you had to put your clothes on the floor when you went to bed. The front entrance door was insecure and often left open by guests in the other flats. The location was OK as it was only a short walk into Whitby town centre.

Parking nightmare in that area too, all permits only other than seafront where £3.60 for 2 hours. To top it all bad storm on day we arrived- big leak appeared in two rooms on ceiling and wall. The location and general design of the apartment. We never got the promised scratch card for parking nearby even after repeatedly asking for it. The front door key did not work. Hot water was not available. The contact person at Host Stay kept promising to solve the issues but nothing happened. We spent considerable effort re parking the car and were less able to relax.

Excellent location, clean and well presented. Parking permits supplied which made parking much less stressful. Communication in advance of and during the trip was excellent! Some essentials were not provided very generously - could only locate one toilet roll and a tiny amount of washing up liquid. We had to buy our own washing up liquid and scourers. Couldn't locate cleaning spray to clean the kitchen after cooking. Overall pretty happy!

It was close to all the facilities, apartment had everything we needed. Beds could of been a bit bigger

Location was great close to all amenities great for shops pubs and restaurants fish shop. I didn't like having to leave the front door unlocked as we were on the first floor but the key we were given didn't work in the lock

Good location for the town. No parking permit left so we had to pay to park the first night. Nobody was bothered about sorting this issue and have still not been reimbursed for it. So many letters behind front door we had trouble getting in. Not a great cleaning job done throughout. Shower only had hot water once all week. Felt very much like converted student digs.

Location was brill, lots of sunlight in the property The lock on the apartment door was terrible only one screw holding it in, not secure at all, needs a new lock asap!! The blinds and windows could do with a clean

I liked the location, I really like the apartment. Had a great stay would definitely come back. The sofa was a little uncomfortable. But apart from that everything else was fine.

Very nice apartment, open plan and spacious. Two decent sized bedrooms spaced well apart. Being hit for insurance 9 days before arrival. This should have been mentioned when paying for apartment months earlier.

The lock doesn't work properly. And there's hair on the pillows. The boiler is switched off,and I didn't know it takes time to heat up for hot water.

This was a lovely three day break in Whitby. The accommodation was ideal for what we needed. Comfortable, spacious, and it had what we needed for the time we were there. Ideal for kids and families as it’s right next to the beach and main centre, but also quiet. Parking is a nightmare! We were promised a couple of free parking passes on arrival but this wasn’t the case. It took a couple of hours to sort that out and find parking before we were able to settle. Something we could have done without after a long journey. It was eventually sorted. We also discovered the following day that there was no hot water either, but managed to find the emersion heater.. but it didn’t warm up until the following day! Cold showers for the day unfortunately. And although we didn’t need it, the apartment didn’t have a freezer, just for people to note for anybody who is looking to stay for any longer than us. Apart from these minor points, a nice location and ample place to stay for a short family break

We stayed for 2 nights with our baby and dogs. We all had a lovely time, great location, easy access to the property and no issue during stay. Thanks a lot :)

I received an email giving the location of the lock box, the code and a telephone number if needed. It was easy to access the property after a couple of attempts to open the box.

The location No parking pass left. When raised with the company, 20 minutes on the phone, received a message the following day at 11am to say left in lock box, but parking is free after 6pm so it didn’t matter. (No apology) The property was filthy. Cooking utensils and equipment were unusable. Dishwasher tablets left (with no dishwasher) The shower grout was black. You have to walk into the shower to turn on. Took around 30 minutes to heat up. The lock to the front door was used by guests in other properties. Was locked out at one point during the stay. Some times the lock was left open. The property felt really insecure, particularly as a ground floor property. Have submitted a complaint (will respond in 7-10 days)

Location Noisy neighbours late at night, hallway looked scruffy with leaflets, paper and post scattered all over. Bedroom very small no wardrobes or draws.

Great location, right near the top of West Cliff. I was doing a few days walking and this place is right on the Cleveland Way and just above the harbour. Other than the location the property was only ok. I'm not a picky traveller at all but there were a few issues that bothered me. The first is a general issue with Host and Stay who only communicate with you after you've confirmed your booking that you need to be "verified" and that they're going to either take a 250 pound, refundable bond - with a non-refundable 10 pound service charge - out of your account, or charge you 25 pounds to cover you for 500 pounds worth of damage. If you're only staying one night, then this increases the per night rate considerably and assumes that you're going to damage something. Also, in this case, the property was pretty grubby when I arrived. The coffee table hasn't been cleaned in years and anything laid on it stuck immediately. Makes you suspect that the rest of the cleaning has been the same. No dishwashing liquid. One coffee pod. Just overall got the impression that the owners weren't that bothered. I won't be using Host and Stay again.

Position and decor were lovely. No light bulbs in bedlamps. No hooks, shelves, antislip mat in bathroom. No small hand or face towels. No washing up liquid or pan scrub (dirty cups in cupboard). Not enough loo roll for our short stay. Not enough dining chairs. Not enough storage for clothes. No icebox in fridge. As it was cold the heaters needed to be on and did not come on as mentioned in the guide. I had to sit on the floor and mess for ages to get them to work. One I just couldn't get on. Dusty areas under sofa and beds, in corners and blinds really dusty. No battery in clock (mum with dementia commented constantly about it being 10 o'clock) Difficult to locate keyboard which took 5 attempts to openas i think the buttonsare worn (i use same type on my aunts house). If I had been paid £60 to clean that apartment (as was stated) it would be immaculate. So that aspect was very poor value.

Nice property, very close to West Cliff attractions. Nice sized rooms, comfortable beds, good wifi, very clean, easy check-in. Good service from the lettings team - we initially only had a 2-day car parking permit, but when we asked for a longer one, they sorted it out, no hassle.

Great location Really needs a deep clean. Dusty furniture and blinds. Dirty windows and dirty glasses. Building could do with signage as it has a for sale sign at the front. All blinds were closed. It actually looked unoccupied. Had to ring hosts to confirm it was the correct building

The flat is in a very good location, close to beach, town, cafes etc. It was neat and mostly clean. Dusty here and there and shower needs a good bleach, very mouldy. Windows are all very dirty but I'd say this is due to being close to the sea. Kitchen also could have had more thorough clean. Beds very comfy, and very fresh. asked for earlier check in as 4pm is quite late but they could not accommodate this due to their cleaning policy.. TV was also not working. Messaged host, they said they would look at it when we left.

Great location and cosy flat Disappointed that the promised parking permit was not left. I phoned to enquire but they couldn't deliver it until next day which was too late as we were only staying one night. I have seen in the reviews that this has happened a few times before. This really needs to be resolved so not to ruin people's holiday experience by parking far away at cost.

it was light airy and clean with lots of space and perfect location. the Wifi only worked in the main sitting room and not the bedrooms so the teenagers were not happy about it.

Very convenient location . Clean and comfortable.There was no parking card at the property. Had to pay for public parking and wasn’t advised on the nearest. But they reimbursed the parking we had to pay and were helpful.

Perfect location Clock needs a battery in the lounge, and not enough drinking glasses. The lock box for the keys was very difficult to get into

On arrival the property was freezing cold and no parking permit had been left this was left the next day this didn’t cause us any problems but we would have thought the heating could have been switched on we had a small child with us and it took a while for it to get warm and longer for the beds to warm up

The place is very comfortable and very short distance to all the restaurants and attractions. The beach is just around the corner. View is beautiful. Clean and warm.

Lovely couple of nights stay, lovely spot not busy but very close to town. Would recommend and book again.

location scaffolding blocking windows! windows could not be opened so horribly stuffy and claustrophic. we would NOT have booked this appartement if we had known. completedly spoilt our trip which was a treat at a time when finance very tight!

We have just come back from a short break in Whitby and we have had a lovely time. The apartment was spotless and is very modern and lovely. The instructions we were given via email were very good and easy to follow. Will definitely book with Vrbo again in the future.

Location The address link took us to the wrong place and we had to ask the guest house across the road for location.

Location was fine stay was self catering. Clean towels and bedding. Nice bathroom. Size of bedrooms were small no room for storage. Beds uncomfortable although clean. Pans were unusable due to coating scraped off so they were rusty. Not enough normal glasses.

Cleanliness of apartment and comfort. Pans could do with renewing ie rusty inside. No frying pan. Not enough shelves in bathroom. Could do with coat hooks in lobby. Screw needs sorting on carpet strip bedroom doorway. Nothing serious enough to put me of staying again.

Great location. Everything we needed for short break. Very quiet but very acceptable location. Minutes to beach & town centre. The W parking permit covers the road right outside- where we managed to park. Bit difficult to find by address & post code. One window in living room would not open. Windows need cleaning. But does have sea view. Shelf in bathroom would be useful.

Great place to stay for a short break with kids. Great location and space, local parking, bedding and towels clean. Brill shower and bathroom very clean. We’ll be back :-)

I arrived at the rental property to find scaffolding all over the front of the apartment. I wasn’t informed about this and would have booked somewhere else if I’d have known. Unable to open the windows in the heatwave due to the dust. Cans of paint were left in the hallway too. I asked for a 20% refund which I thought was fare but they’re insisting on no more than 10%!! Very disappointing. Location

The apartment is in an excellent and quiet location, very close to the beach and a short walk into the town centre. Inside was clean and comfortable. The entire building was covered in scaffolding with builders working on site when we arrived. I had to call to check we were at the right house! It was difficult to find the lockbox "behind the hanging basket" - there were no hanging baskets, just scaffolding and dust. Many houses had scaffolding on the street and I get that building repairs have to be done. In addition, inside the apartment was ideal for us. However, we had builders walking around outside our first floor window, which meant we had to keep the blinds shut. Fortunately the builders did not arrive on Saturday morning, if they had that would have ruined our stay. Given I paid a lot of money for a night there I think we should a) have been warned about the building work and b) paid less!

Nice location, nice apartment there was scaffolding up around the entire apartment and workers right outside the windows all day long when we were trying to relax and nap and cook because we were on holiday. Also, it would be nice if there were a freezer. We bought frozen food before coming to the property, but there's only a refrigerator.

we got £100 discount after complaining rusty pans, faulty hob, windows not working, didn’t feel safe or secure, front door latch hanging off. to top it all, there was a building site with scaffolding outside the whole of the building

The location was excellent and very handy for everything in whitby. It was a very quite street and the parking was easy to find. The facilities at the apartment was perfect with plenty tea, coffee and milk as well as cleaning products to use.. It was also clean and tidy inside. Kerb appeal could have been better with a lick of paint on the front door and the windows were very dirty outside. The pillows were a little hard but that’s our preference that we like soft pillows, maybe have a couple of each so people can choose.

Lovely little place, great location. Parking difficult but probably due to time of year we stayed. It is quite loud when others enter/exit the building, nothing the hosts can do about that but any light sleepers or people with very young children need to be aware of that. Only reason it is not 5 stars. We will definitely stay again.

The apartment’s location is brilliant - one street from the seafront and within walking distance from the town centre. Everything was clean and tidy and the host was really responsive. The only reason I’ve not rated higher is that we felt the apartment was quite basic for the price but this is reflective of the market more than anything I think! Also thought the outside was a bit shabby so our initial impression wasn’t as good as it could have been.
