Award Winning Restaurants

The Bay Horse

Countryside Restaurant | Award Winning | Hurworth-on-Tees in Darlington

If you’re looking for a cosy spot serving incredible food, The Bay Horse will certainly tick the right boxes! This 15th century coaching inn has beautiful interiors with traditional features and a roaring open fire. The restaurant opened back in 2008 and since then, it has won a number of awards including Living North‘s ‘Pub of the Year’ award in 2019. You’ll often see the restaurant featured in the Good Food Guide and the Michelin Guide so you know you’re in for a real treat when it comes to eating here. Their menus change seasonally and include classic dishes with a modern twist.

The Bay Horse is open for lunch and dinner. It has children’s, vegetarian and vegan menus so everyone is catered for. If you happen to be in the area on a Sunday, we’d recommend booking for their Sunday lunch! You can get two courses for £27.50 or three courses for £35. We’d definitely recommend booking a table at The Bay Horse to avoid disappointment.

Raby Hunt Restaurant

Fine Dining Restaurant | Michelin Star | Darlington

If you’re looking for a luxurious dining experience, Raby Hunt will not disappoint. Owned by self-taught chef James Close, he bought the restaurant back in 2009 before gaining his first Michelin star in 2012 and the second in 2017. Voted No.4 in the country for the Most Exciting Restaurants of 2022 by The Good Food Guide, Raby Hunt offers a global experience through their tasting menu which covers Peru, Sweden, Tokyo and New York amongst other places. There is also an extensive wine list and an option to add wine pairing.

When it comes to dining, you can book to dine in the restaurant or in the kitchen itself where you have a full view of the kitchen at work. If you’re looking to treat your significant other, Raby Hunt is the ultimate treat. An impressive and innovative restaurant, you’ll certainly remember your experience here.

Boquerones Tapas and Cocktails

Mediterranean Restaurant | Tapas Dishes | Heaton in Newcastle

Boquerones Tapas and Cocktails is the first and only Spanish restaurant in Heaton, Newcastle. When it comes to tapas, they certainly know what they know what they’re doing! Serving a mixture of traditional and modern dishes all freshly made with premium ingredients, you’re in for a treat.

You can get three tapas dishes for £15.95 between 4:30pm – 6pm on Tuesdays – Thursdays, 12pm – 6pm on Fridays and 12pm – 5pm on Saturdays. Perfect for dining with your loved one, you can share dishes together and have a little bit of everything. Our favourites include albondigas, ‘grabhams’ gambas and the chorizo fried in honey. The full main tapas menu includes vegetarian options, fish, meat and desserts. There is also an after dinner drinks menu which includes cocktails like espresso martinis and raspberry mochatinis.

We’d recommend giving the restaurant a call to book a table to avoid disappointment.

The French Quarter

Authentic French Food | Deli Shop | Newcastle City Centre

The French Quarter is a stylish restaurant founded by couple Cédric & Catherine Boc-Ho with the aim to challenge the perceptions that French dining can be formal and fussy. The restaurants offers a small-plate menu for a la carte and two courses for £16.95 or three courses for £20.95 on the lunch menu. The Camembert rôti isn’t to be missed and it doesn’t get better than their Jambon de Bayonne! They also have an incredible drinks menu where you can sample different wines or choose a delicious cocktail. We’d recommend the The Negroni ‘Français’ and you can’t go wrong with a French Martini!

Once you’ve enjoyed your romantic meal at the restaurant, you can head to The French Quarter Deli where you can buy your own cheese, charcuterie, pâtés, chutneys and wine to enjoy at home.

Valentine’s Day is fully booked for evening meals but there are currently tables available for lunch time so we’d recommend booking in advance if you’re hoping for a Valentine’s treat.
