Saltburn by the Sea is more than just a charming Victorian seaside town on the North Yorkshire coast – it’s a haven for food lovers too! Whether you’re looking for fresh seafood, hearty pub meals, or international cuisine, Saltburn has something to satisfy every palate. Here’s a guide to some our favourite Saltburn by the Sea restaurants to enjoy during your stay.

STAY IN SALTBURN

No. Twenty Three
📍 23 Milton Street, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, TS12 1DJ 

When it comes to Saltburn by the Sea restaurants, one of our favourite spots is No. Twenty Three on Milton Street! Whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat or you want to make a night of it, this popular restaurant and bar serves Neapolitan style pizzas, craft beers and an incredible gin selection! 

With a cool, laidback atmosphere, it offers something completely different in Saltburn and it’s no surprise it’s a huge hit with locals and visitors alike! Our personal favourite pizzas include the Napoli Hot (if you like spicy food, you’ll enjoy this one) and the Napoli Prosciutto. If you’re a vegetarian, the Napoli Vegetariana is delicious!

Seaview Restaurant
📍 Lower Prom, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, TS12 1HQ 

If you’re looking for Saltburn by the sea restaurants serving delicious seafood, then this is the place for you! Perfectly named, this gorgeous restaurant is located right on the seafront so you can expect the most incredible views of the beach and Huntcliff in the distance. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful breakfast or lunch in the sunshine, Seaview serves up delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. 

The restaurant serves the freshest seafood which lands from the surrounding waters daily. Our personal favourites are the moules mariniere which are served with gorgeous sourdough bread and fries, or traditional fish and chips. After all, nothing beats fish and chips by the sea in North Yorkshire!

Coco & Rum
📍 Station Square, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, TS12 1AQ
 

The Thai fusion restaurant, Coco & Rum, is on Station Square in the centre of town. Whether you’re looking to eat in or takeaway, Coco & Rum offers freshly cooked food to order and it really is tasty! You can choose how spicy your meal is from mild, moderate to spicy so your dish is catered just for you. 

Originally opened in 2017, it has gone on to become one of the most popular Saltburn by the sea restaurants. If you’d prefer a relaxing night in instead, they also do takeout and you’ll get 20% off your order if you do choose to take away! If you’re planning on visiting, we’d recommend the Thai green curry and pad Thai noodles.

Rapp’s Café
📍 11 Milton Street, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, TS12 1DH 

One of our all-time favourite Saltburn by the Sea restaurants, Rapp’s Café offers breakfast, lunch and evening menus. Open seven days a week, you’ll usually find the place bustling with locals and visitors. Rapps caters for everyone so you can expect to see families, solo visitors, couples and groups of friends. When the sun is shining, nothing beats eating outside al fresco style. 

If you’re here for breakfast, we’d always recommend the Full English. The lunch menu has great options including specials, children’s meals and desserts. Come evening time, we’d choose a stone baked pizza or fresh Scottish mussels.

Signals
📍 1A Station Square, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, TS12 1AQ 

Located in Station Square, Signals is a dog-friendly bistro open 7 days a week. Open all day, they do great menus with plenty of options. With a charming seaside feel yet a cool vibe, Signals has really put its stamp on Saltburn. 

As night descends over the weekends, it transforms into a bar serving up cocktails and craft beers with DJs, open mic nights and comedy clubs. If you’re looking for a night out, head to Signals. Our top pick is their Amaretto Jam cocktail – so good!

Tomahawk Steakhouse
📍 Saltburn Road, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, TS12 1NY 

If you’re looking for a good steak, a visit to Tomahawk is a must! This stylish restaurant is located right on the S bank so you can take in beautiful sea views whilst you enjoy your meal. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, their menu offers everything from steak to chicken shawarma to Thai green curry.

If you fancy stopping off for a drink after visiting one of the many amazing Saltburn by the Sea restaurants, there are lots of spots to choose from. We love No. Twenty Three and The Sitting Room as well as the following bars and pubs: 

The Guns Bar

One of our favourite places for a drink in Saltburn is The Guns Bar. This quirky bar offers local craft ale, world beers and over 40 different gins! With perfectly paired tonics and botanicals, you’ll get the full gin experience. 

The Guns Bar has a unique feel. It has a rustic look with lots of little nooks making it perfect for get togethers in groups. In the winter months, the log burner is lit making it super cosy. When its summertime, you can sit outside and enjoy fruity beers. Either way – The Guns Bar is a popular hotspot whatever the time of year.

The Ship

Dating back to the late 1500s and once the centre of the smuggling trade, The Ship has plenty of history within its walls. Perfectly in keeping with this, the pub has a cosy and rustic feel inside with coal fires and original timbers. In the colder months, nothing beats a quiet drink by the roaring fire. When the sun is shining, you can sit outside and watch the waves in the distance.

Cafes in Saltburn by the Sea 

As well as amazing restaurants and bars, Saltburn also has a fantastic selection of cafes and coffee shops to choose from! A few of our favourites include: 

The Sitting Room

Tables at The Sitting Room, Saltburn-by-the-Sea. The walls are black with fairy lights and paper ornaments dangling from the ceiling. The tables are rustic with mis-matched wooden chairs around them.

This eclectic tea shop doubles up as a vintage tea house during the day and a quirky bar by night. Although small in size, the café makes up for it in character. Mismatched tables and chairs, dark coloured walls, an exposed brick bar, fairy lights… The Sitting Room is certainly bursting with personality. In the summer months, you can sit outside and soak up the atmosphere.  

You can get your hands on real-leaf teas and homemade cakes then come night-time, cocktails, craft beers and wine. The best place in Saltburn for an Espresso Martini, their cocktails are hard to beat!

Located in the beautiful homeware store Lillian Daph, yard is a brand-new coffee shop offering good vibes and tasty coffee! With delicious pastries freshly baked from koselig, it’s the perfect place to visit for a sweet treat. It’s also dog friendly so your pup can come for a rest here too!

Shanti Vegetarian Cafe

If you’re looking for vegan and veggie food, we’d recommend visiting Shanti! This cosy cafe and bistro has a menu packed with delicious, fresh food all made on site. We’d recommend their lentil dhal which comes with brown cumin rice and mango chutney. If you have a sweet tooth, they also have a fantastic selection of vegan cakes and scones.
