Property Details

The Space
Earl Grey is a newly refurbished, first floor apartment in a historic Grade II listed building. Situated in the centre of Alnwick, it has everything you could want for a stay in Northumberland.

The quality of the refurbishment is evident in the open plan living room, kitchen and dining area. In here you’ll find a comfy sofa and matching armchair where you can relax after a day of exploring. From the tall window, you have a wonderful view of the street below. Turn on the flatscreen Freeview TV and you’ll have a wide selection of channels to choose from.

Fancy something to eat, or maybe a cuppa? The modern kitchen shares this open space, so there isn’t far to go when you need to grab a snack or prepare a meal. Appliances aplenty are found here, including a dishwasher as nobody needs to be washing up during their holiday!

When you need to get ready to go out or head off to bed, the apartment's modern bathroom suite has a walk-in shower plus a brand-new wash basin and WC.

When sleep calls, both bedrooms offer luxuriously relaxing surroundings, each with a double bed.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Neighborhood
With cobbled streets lined with independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, the market town of Alnwick has charisma and personality in abundance. If you’re a keen reader, head to the old railway station and you’ll find one of the UK’s largest second-hand bookshops. As night falls, venture to one of the lively inns to enjoy live music.

Alnwick also has some of the country’s top attractions including Alnwick Castle, which was the location for the famous Harry Potter film franchise. Discover a realm of adventure by taking on the Dragon Quest or complete broomstick training in the very spot where Harry Potter had his first flying lesson. Head to the Artisan Courtyard to have fun dressing up in medieval costumes and get a feel for 14th century life. You can also explore The Alnwick Garden where you’ll find 12 acres of magnificent gardens and the world’s largest treehouse restaurant.

Location, facilities

Three narrow steep flights of stairs to top floor - no prior warning! A couple of snagging details.

Location central
Clean
Nice apartment
Nice shower

Very small especially the bathroom sink not fit for purpose. Very hot at night in bedroom. 30 stairs to climb not ideal if you have mobility issues.
Dry dog food smell in lobby.
No parking permit in room.
No repair for faulty flickering light in kitchen and remote control for tv didn’t work, sent email as soon as we arrived nobody replied. Just generic email basically saying it was in review for urgency of repair ???.
Expensive compulsory insurance, and cleaning fee.

Booked this for my mum and sister. The apartment was ideally situated for Alnwick 's tourist sites

The location was excellent but the property was very cramped, especially the bedroom.

Lack of space and bed up against the wall.

Good location

Pretty sparse. The need to pay for additional insurance is pretty irritating

Recently refurbished and well-equipped.

Bedroom is an airless box. Must be absolutely terrible if outside temperature rises above 20c. Whole apartment has one window that can only be opened a crack. Bad conversion job. My wife wanted to leave after the first night.
I also dislike hidden charges, with a £10 ‘administration fee’ for taking a security deposit. Just include it in the headline price.

Despite a bit of difficulty getting the keys from the lock, entry was straight forward. Lovely apartment, clean and tidy. Open plan kitchen, diner and living space. Nice tall shower. 2 good size bedrooms. Situated in the middle of town so a perfect location. Apartment was exactly what we needed for our short stay

Location was good, parking not a problem. Comfortable and well equipped.

Bad smell in the hallway from the pet shop next door and low ceiling on first floor stairs, hit my head a few times, no warning sign.

Small but nicely decorated central flat. Ceylon is in the attic.

The living room window rattled in the wind, we used the no smoking sign to stop it. It was very draughty from it though. The bedroom is small so my husband was against the wall. Unfortunately there is no adequate sound proofing between the flats next door and I could hear the owner talking to one in the morning. I got earplugs for the next night.

Clean comfortable. Keypad security.

Outlook from rear of property and bedrooms. Entrance stairs and bedrooms look out onto filthy dark passageway sitting below other flat balconies where noise from conversations excessive, constant and very early in morning. Opening windows for air makes this noise impossible to tolerate early morning. Wasn't anything other than people living their lives in these buildings. No anti social behaviour for the nights we stayed even though accommodation is centrally situated.

Location was good

Arrived after an 8 hour cycle in pouring rain to have to pay a security deposit on top of the £300 rate for 2 nights before we could get the keys. The bathroom stunk of raw sewage. We washed our clothes but couldn’t dry them as the owner had turned the heating off!! Not a good experience.

Lovely flat, very clean, great location. There was a technical issue with paying the non-refundable damage deposit there was no link though. It took ages to sort out and as a result I only received the lockbox code just prior to check in.
